Yes, very interesting and also very sad that we can raise a record $10M, save Tulane's football program,... But we won't invest in new tarps and batting cage nets for JC Love, fix the track surface, repair the tennis courts, install turf and adequate lighting in Joe Aillet Stadium,...

The Foundation' mandate is not focused on athletics, and it shouldn't be. Athletics had a very accomplished fundraiser that wasn't given free reign to raise funds...there is your problem...it isn't with the Foundation.

But doesn't the Foundation receive a cut of all moneys donated to Athletics, whether they raised them or not?

Austin, I think it is only if the money is given to athletics through the foundation and it is a 10% cut. Why, I don't know! DFM can tell you.

It depends -

There are ways that it can be run through the Foundation where they get NO cut off of the money -

But if it is general giving I do think they get the 10% -

I've got my thoughts on this subject - mainly that it is something that is department generated and the Foundation agreed to it - and not necessarily a foundation "thing"....

10% is cheap when you consider some of the things that the Foundation does from an administrative standpoint. Depending on the circumstances of the donation, the Foundation does not necessarily take its usual cut, which I can no longer recall what it is. For athletics specifically, they only take 10% and sometimes nothing at all...of course, Ronny Walker was paid by the Foundation as is his assistant, April McGuirt.
