2007 RIVALS 250

Rivals.com has released its TOP 250 football prospect list for the recruiting season which will culminate with national signing date of February, 2007. Some analysis follows:

1. STATE REPRESENTATION-Three states dominate the TOP 250 with Florida leading the way with 37 followed by Texas with 33 & California with 26. These three states have 38% of the TOP 250.

2. OTHER STATES OF INTEREST-Georgia has 19; Louisiana & Ohio have 12 each; Alabama & Pennsylvania have 8 each; remainder scattered among remaining states.

3. TOP 250 BY POSITION-36 OL (avg. size-6'5"-295); 32 DB's; 32 DE's (avg. size-6'4"-236); 26 ATHLETES; 26 WR's; 24 DT's (avg. size-6'3"-289); 23 LB's (avg. size-6'2"-215); 23 RB's; 16 QB's (#1 Clausen already committed to Notre Dame); 12 TE's (avg. size-6'5"-238).

4. 19 of the TOP 250 weigh 300+ with Kevin Bryant, OL from Hallandale, FL, the largest @ 6'6"-380.

5. 46 of the TOP 250 are 6'5"+ with Lee Ziemba, OL from Rogers, AR, ONE of the tallest @ 6'7"-295; MANY are 6'7".

6. 94 of the TOP 250 (38%) have already COMMITTED to a specific university with NONE of the 94 committed to a NON-BCS school (rich get richer).

7. The TEXAS LONGHORNS have already COMMITTED 16 of the TOP 250 which is TRULY AMAZING! Included in those 16 is an ENTIRE OL--Tray Allen-OL-6'4"-305; Kyle Hix-OL-6'6"-290; Michael Huey-OL-6'5"-290; Andre McGaskey-OL-6'4"-290 & Matt Nader-OL-6'6"-295.

8. OTHER COMMITMENTS-TOP 250-Florida has 7; LSU, OLE MISS, & NOTRE DAME have 5 each; Georgia, Virginia, & Texas A&M have 4 each; Southern Cal, Miami (FL), South Carolina, & Penn State have 3 each.
