This is embarassing. It came from the Reno paper. Our facilities are the laughing stock of the conference and we wonder why we can't get in CUSA.
Instant replay is coming to Mackay Stadium.
Nevada, like every Division I-A school, will be required to use instant replay beginning this fall as the NCAA recently finalized the protocol that will be used.
"We as a conference are going forward with it," Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson said. "All 11 Division I-A conferences are expected to use it."
The WAC was one of two conferences -- the Sun Belt was the other -- that did not use replay last season. One reason for the lack of replay last year was the cost involved since various camera angles and the need for immediate replays are needed.
Some WAC games are not produced for television and a handful of stadiums did not have the necessary equipment -- various camera angles and video board production -- needed.
Benson said eight of the nine WAC schools will have a video board production this year. Nevada is expected to announce in the coming weeks the addition of a video board to its scoreboard at Mackay. Louisiana Tech will be the only WAC school without video board production but last year's addition of wac.tv Internet broadcasts will still allow for a replay system at Louisiana Tech.
"We will have in-house production at every other school," Benson said. "At Louisiana Tech, there may not be the same number of cameras, but they'll still have different angles available."
