Guess not farright.
Guess not farright.
How is the work going? Any updates will be appreciated.
The fence is up but I don't think the bullpen is usable yet. Still need to build the mound and all. Other than that, the fence needs a screen because the old screen is too short and there is also a need for net on the south end of the first base dugout so the Blue doesn't get hit in the head when opposing teams are warming up.Originally Posted by DAWG DUDE
Thanks for the update. What other projects do the have planned for JC Love? Sim sure does know how to get things done!!Originally Posted by firedog

Money for new scoreboard is needed ASAP.Originally Posted by farright30
The only option is to paint it, unless outside sources donate the money. Tech can't give money for upgrades to baseball until they bring softball up to the same level.(Title IX)
What is the tag on a new one, $80,000? Is Sim still trying to appropriate funds over 2 years for this?
If we can find a mover and shaker to fill the advertised opening for "Executive Director of Athletic Advancement" maybe we could persuade some of the new businesses moving in to the Ruston area to get established in the area by helping to purchase a new scoreboard. There should be incentives for fundraising positions or not much will ever get done.Let's hope the new director is a baseball fan.Has anyone talked to coach Sim lately to know how we stand on the scoreboard issue?
The paint ain't the problem - the board actually doesn't look half bad -Originally Posted by firedog
Its the 30+ year old wiring and the inability to get the replacement parts (electronic) to fixit that is the problem -
The best thing that could happen - would be for the whole thing to crater and burn -
Then it would have to be replaced -
I will say it again - while having an $80,000 scoreboard would be nice - we don't need it -
Just need a multi-functional - BASIC - board that we can get 20+ years out of - cheaper to operate and cheaper to maintain and you don't have to hire someone to run it for you -
I firmly believe we could put up about $24,000 to $30,000 board that would be a VERY nice addition to JC Love -

note to the Blue, this IS NOT a suggestion.Originally Posted by Dwayne From Minden

I said we didn't need a new scoreboard that costs $80,000 - with all the bells, whistles and gadgets -
We just need a good, solid, new scoreboard that has the line score, runs, hits, errors, whose at bat and a message crawl - something that costs $40,000 at most -
Something that has MINIMUM UPKEEP - because it is probably going to have to last another 20+ years -
If it were me - I would push for a HUGE manual scoreboard with a message crawl center - it would be UNIQUE to say the least -

According to Scott Beders' blog..... coach Sim says they are in the process of adding 8 more rows of chairback seats and adding more chair backs on top of the dugouts.Has anyone been by the love shack to see the progress?I'm glad that coach Sim keeps chipping away on the old facility with improvements. And thanks to the annonomous donor who funded the right field fence replacement by the visitors bullpen.
If it is in the budget, it will happen. The seats that don't sell to season ticket holders would be on sale on game days at a higher price.Originally Posted by falcon
