War never prevents war. However, it does:

    defeat evil
    stop oppresion
    spread freedom
protect the lives of the innocent

Education is never allowed by an opponent of any kind. Hitler wouldn't exactly circulate books that didn't fit his criteria for good reading. He did have some parties for them... So it 's not superstition, it's the people who rely on the superstition for power.

    WAR in Israel

Very interesting when you think about what day this is by Jewish tradition. "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem."

“And you, Oh Jerusalem shall be a cup of trembling..” – Zachariah

In Jewish tradition, today is the fast day of the 17th of Tammuz

According to tradition five great catastrophes occurred in Jewish history on the 17th of Tammuz:
    • Moses broke the tablets at Mount Sinai - in response to the sin of the Golden Calf.
    • The daily offerings in the First Temple were suspended during the siege of Jerusalem, after the Kohanim could no longer obtain animals.
    • Jerusalem's walls were breached, prior to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE.
    • Prior to the Great Revolt, the Roman general Apostamos burned a Torah scroll - setting a precedent for the horrifying burning of Jewish books throughout the centuries.
    • An idolatrous image was placed in the Sanctuary of the Holy Temple - a brazen act of blasphemy and desecration.

Just a couple of questions: What is the 17th of Tammuz? And why is it 70 CE instead of AD?

    Re: Middle East War

I think that the Middle Eastern countries should back off of Israel...their track record is not so good.
1967, 6 Day War resulting from initial Egyptian aggression. Post-War Tallies:

The casualties of the war, far from Israel's anticipated heavy estimates, were quite low, with 338 soldiers lost on the Egyptian front, 300 on the Jordanian front, and 141 on the Syrian front. Egypt lost 80% of its military equipment, 10,000 soldiers and 1,500 officers killed, 5,000 soldiers and 500 officers captured [25], and 20,000 wounded. [26] Jordan suffered 6,000-7,000 killed and probably around 12,000 to 20,000 wounded. [27] Syria lost 2,500 dead and 5,000 wounded, half the tanks and almost all the artillery positioned in the Golan Heights were destroyed. [28] The official count of Iraqi casualties was 10 killed and about thirty wounded. [29]
The 1967 War also laid the foundation for future discord in the region - as on November 22, 1967, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 242, the "land for peace" formula, which called for Israeli withdrawal "from territories occupied" in 1967 in return for "the termination of all claims or states of belligerency."

    Re: Middle East War

Let's hope this part of history doesn't repeat itself:

    U.S. and British support

USS Independence in service with the Sixth Fleet, 1967

Some Arabs believe that the United States and Britain provided active support for the Israeli Air Force. Claims of American and British combat support for Israel began on the second day of the war. Radio Cairo and the government newspaper Al-Ahram made a number of claims, among them: that U.S. and British carrier-based aircraft flew sorties against the Egyptians; that U.S. aircraft based in Libya attacked Egypt; and that U.S. spy satellites provided imagery to Israel. Both Syria and Jordan broadcast similar reports on Radio Damascus and Radio Amman. These claims were also repeated by Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser in his June 9 resignation speech (his resignation was not accepted).
Both London and Washington strongly denied these claims, and no evidence has ever corroborated them. In American and British government circles, these accusations quickly became known as 'the big lie.'
Nonetheless, these claims, that the Arabs were fighting the Americans and British rather than Israel alone, took hold in the Arab world. According to Israeli historian Elie Podeh: "All post-1967 [Egyptian] history textbooks repeated the claim that Israel launched the war with the support of Britain and the United States. The narrative also established a direct link between the 1967 war and former imperialist attempts to control the Arab world, thus portraying Israel as an imperialist stooge. The repetition of this fabricated story, with only minor variations, in all history school textbooks means that all Egyptian schoolchildren have been exposed to, and indoctrinated with, the collusion story." A British guidance telegram to Middle East posts concluded: "The Arabs' reluctance to disbelieve all versions of the big lie springs in part from a need to believe that the Israelis could not have defeated them so thoroughly without outside assistance." [30]
Historians such as Michael Oren have argued that by falsely accusing the United States and Britain of directly helping the Israelis the Arab leaders were attempting to secure active Soviet military assistance for themselves. The Soviets, however, knew that these claims of foreign assistance to Israel were groundless and notified Arab diplomats in Moscow of that fact. Yet even though the Soviet government disbelieved these accusations, Soviet media continued to quote them, thereby strengthening the credibility of the reports. In reaction to these claims, Arab oil-producing countries announced an oil embargo.

I have seen the Eyptian army up close and they are about the most undisciplined , dirty, lazy bunch of knuckleheads I have ever seen. Unless something has changed, if they try to get involved again, they will meet a similar fate. I think the US still has some troops stationed in the Siani Pennusula just to protect them from themelves. "Don't go over there, that dog will bite!"

Are you a Christian Salty? Or do you just quote Bible verses to try and call the Christians on this board hypocrites while at the same time forgetting that true Christians believe in the entire Bible and take it all in it's context rather than taking one little verse and trying to prove a point with it like you do??

....just a question. I ask because the KKK often tries to pick and choose individual Bible verses to prove their points as well, forgetting like you do, to take the entire Bible into account.

I believe if you read what the Bible says about Israel , war, the outcomes of wars that Israel fights and who we should be praying for you would start praying for and cheering for Israel to defeat its enemies. ....At least thats what I will be doing. ..You have fun being sarcastic and pointing out what hypocrites we are.

VIDEO - Some two million Israelis who live in northern communities from Haifa to Metula face the threat of rocket and missile attacks from Lebanon.

Northern EscalationNorthern Israel under attack; missile fired at Haifa / Ahiya Raved(VIDEO) Hizbullah missile lands in Haifa, no casualties reported; 6 rockets hit central Nahariya as President Moshe Katsav tours city, 7 people lightly injured in attack. One dead, 18 injured in barrage on Safed
    Full Story

Security officials said 120 Katyusha rockets were fired at Israel on Thursday, killing two people and injuring over 100.

Terrorists fired a missile at Haifa for the first time. Security officials estimated the rocket was made in Iran.

A man was treated for anxiety after the attack.

Northern residents have been asked to spend the night in shelters. In Akko, Haifa, Tirat Hacarmel and Nesher residents were ordered not to leave their homes and to follow the news for instructions by the security forces.

Minutes before the fire Hizbullah's al-Manar showed a new rocket which they said will hit "the strongholds of the Zionist enemy."

The Hizbullah said they fired a Raad 1 missile at Israel.

    Raad 1 missile (Video: Al-Manar)

"That's the missile used by Hizbullah to respond to Israeli attack and to hit military strongholds of the Zionist enemy. The rocket is of 333 mm in diameter and has a warhead of 100 kilograms. Our fighters used it today when they attacked the military base in Har Meron which was severely damaged and set on fire."

A senior Military Intelligence officer told the Knesset's Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee that Hizbullah possesses thousands of rockets with a 20-kilometer firing range as well as some 100 rockets capable of reaching targets of 40-70 kilometers.

Israel threatened a tough response to attacks on northern communities.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday following the rocket attack on Haifa, "We expected Hizbullah to break the rules and now we are going to break them."

You got that right. However, I would be dang proud if we did help Israel in that war effort. Fact is that Israel beat them to a pulp with GOD's help.

    Re: Middle East War

Tyler, why after losing so many innocent people as they did in the holocaust and managing to survive, why did the surviving Jews return to the Middle East and allow their younger generation to become bullies, not toward Nazis but toward their close racial and religious cousins?

Christianity is NOTHING but what Jesus taught. And war-mongering and bullying other nations was not a part of it. Was the 9-11 attack retribution for our helping Israel dominate the Middle East?

Was it retribution for electing an anti-Arab president?

I am happy that you aren't an anti-Semite. But I don't understand your enthusiasm for Israel's treatment of it neighbors? Why didn't the U.S. bring the victims of the Nazis here and allow them to compete for success in our society? Obviously, that wouldn't have been difficult and there wouldn't be a little nation with a chip on its shoulder constantly coming up with a reason to attack some one in a part of the world that hardly offers the natural resources to maintain a minimal population.

If a nuclear weapon is used anytime soon, maybe you hotheads will realize how horrible that would be and stop talking as though war is no worse than a football game in which all the wounded get quick treatment and the losers suffer nothing but short-term embarrassment.

Get a clue. People are dying over there and human beings all count one with the Creator.
