Paul was truly one of the good guys in the industry. I have listened to him call Razorback football just as I've listened to Dave Nitz call Bulldog football and basketball. It's a very sad day for the entire state. This happened on I-40 inside the Russellville city limits around 8:00 PM last night. I felt like I'd lost a family member this morning when I heard it on the radio on my way to work.
Although Eells went to Arkansas several years after I became a Tech man, I enjoyed his sportscasts in my parents' living room during visits.
The 12-minute tribute is very nice, especially his call of a Hogs' win over ElEssEwe.

In a strange way - I kinda wish Dave would end up with this job -
Big time gig, in a big time conference, close to home and a place where he would be appreciated by the athletic department and would be paid in such a manner....
Probably will get some red dots for that, but Dave deserves much better than the peanuts our athletic department pays him -

Everybody give DFM a red dot!!
Chuck Barrett probably has the inside tract. I feel sorry for whoever gets it trying to follow Paul. Chuck already has a pretty popular sports talk show and is on razarback broadcasts on pre-game and post game so he's already known. There's no doubt Dave would do a great job but I hate to think about him leaving Tech.
