    Reutersgate strikes other news outlets

I am still amazed at how far the liberal media will go. The Reuters fake/doctored photos screw up was amazing enough.

Unfortunately the practice of fauxtography has been a mainstay in the major news wires for years. I'm glad it's starting to bite them in the butt.

I had a friend over and we couldn't see the image in weunice's post. My only thought was that it must have been an image of some sort of Jewzilla. We laughed for a while but then we just couldn't let it drop. We thought about sending in a superhero to defeat Jewzilla and that lead to the question: "If you could be any superhero, which one would you be if you had to beat Jewzilla?" I know what you're thinking... Kids today haven't even though about which superhero could beat Jewzilla. Well we all reach manhood at different times.

First choice: Superman. Then we started thinking. That jumping over tall buildings thing is probably a good thing, but isn't kryptonite the rarest jewel on Earth? Yeah. Let's not do that.

Second choice: Spiderman. Well he was dismissed, but not for such racially insulting reasons as Superman was. We just think Spiderman is a vagina. Especially after Toby played him. We needed someone strong enough to open the jelly jar without calling their husband.

The Thing is strong enough... but he IS Jewish. That would be like letting Syria be the mediator in the Israeli peace talks.

(We dismissed a few superheros whose abilities could inappropriately be associated with the Holocaust.)

We finally settled on Batman. But if we were gonna send Batman, he better have on his Tech gear. So we whip out the original Nintendo Entertainment System and load up the original Batman game by Sunsoft. (One of the best games made for NES) We screen cap the opening sequence, do some photoshopping and voila. You inspired a new avatar.

Now that's some funny stuff. BTW, I think Spiderman was a wimp as well.

In this thread we get someone professing to believe that the mainstream media intentionally run falsified doctored photos. Then we get someone displaying his skill at doctoring photos.

Shows how easy it is to use a valuable tool improperly, but it doesn't mean that editors and reporters would intentionally do such. If some unethical person somehow manages to get a wire service to run a doctored photo, then some mainstream papers may be fooled into printing it. But telemarketing is as close as a media employee who does such intentionally will ever again get to his chosen profession!

The Jersusalem Post obviously has an interest in making it appear that no Israeli planes have dropped bombs and that no Arab woman has lost a house. The doctored photos were by a STRINGER, a freelancer who was a contractor and not necessarily trained in journalism or even exposed to journalistic ethics. Glad he was caught and relieved of duty. But fired isn't the right word. He was not an employee.

Does a media error make war harmless?

The problem is that the photos were so obviously doctored that people who saw the photos with any amount of knowledge of photoshop immediately red flagged it. Now you would think that the world's most trusted news wires would be able to use the same amount of descretion as random internet people. What's worse is that in the past the AP has been known for doctoring it's own photos. It has even admitted his after getting caught.

This is a shameful time for major news outlets. It was an obvious doctored photograph and they chose to let it through. While the Jerusalem Post does have an interest, this story is on Fox News, CNN, etc as well.

Re: Reutersgate strikes other news outlets

I just watched it tyler. If the photos were intended to mislead, they should not be published. I don't scan all the photos on the wire these days, so I never saw any of those and they were not published in our paper.

I notice that the narrator said at least once they were faked to make Israel look bad and once to say they were faked to get sympathy for hesbollah.

Did someone's house get destroyed? Did someone die who was not a terrorist? If so, the whole absurd war among people of close racial and ethnic ties and diverse religious persuasions is cruel and stupid and incredibly wasteful of natural resources.

The disturbing thing is that there is no talk of how much pain and suffering is occurring. There is no talk of how much infrastructure is being destroyed. There is no talk of how much soil and air and water is being made unusable. There is no acknowledgement of the value of the lives of innocent people lost in such wars.

There is no talk of the cost to the people who will be taxed for decades to pay for all this. There is no discussion of how many olive trees or fig trees or song birds or other wildlife or domestic animals may have been killed. There is no talk of how life will be for those injured in such wars if they survive.
There was a big push to get a nursing home added to the VA hospital in Fayetteville. Finally it is open. Finally people learn it isn't free! The vets who need it the most will remain homeless in their old age and some with resources will have to deprive their wives and other dependents or heirs in order to move into it. So what are such wars accomplishing?

The biggest difference among these people appears to be details of religion. This is the 21st century. Supernatural religions were discredited centuries ago and yet many of these nations are dominated by one or another religious group.

This truly is a matter of education. No developed nation should have more than a tiny percentage of its population involved in such superstitious activity and certainly no one in a position of political power should be acting from the point of view of a religious zealot.

How do we expose all human beings to a good education? For decades the coming development of the computer appeared to be the key to making education universally available.

But we read that the government is spying on foreign religious zealots intent on destroying western civilization by reading their email! If they have email they have access to much of the world's greatest literature and science and technology. Why are they writing and plotting instead of studying?
Of course, some right-wing evangelical churches have internet access and they persist in their effort to prevent their children from gaining an adequate education.

The key remains education, but how to educate remains the problem. Far too many people don't trust their children to become the best they can be by learning the most they can learn. It appears they are more interested in their children sharing their superstitions than in learning as much as they are capable of learning.

Aub, I agree with much of what you have stated. However, the type of education Islam is giving their kids is terrible as you know. They are taught to idolize and mimic murdering terrorist. They are their heros. Their cartoons and coloring books are of bombers killing Jews and believers of the book (Christians). And we all remember the picture of the baby dressed in terrorist cloths with bomb belt accessaries. There in lies a huge part of the problem. It is also a reason why the real story and real pictures must be presented to the world. Did you know that in the UK they were afraid to say that the worldwide potential plane bombing threat discovered last week was composed of 100% muslim men and women (with their babies as a cover to bring on chemicals in baby formula)? They said they were of Pakistan origan but that is all. Afraid of a Islamic backlash. Can you believe that dribble? I believe they are just now printing most of the "rest of the story". The truth in pictures and the story are so important. Heck you are in the business. The folks in your business shouldn't defend them all of the time. And I, for one, don't understand you when you start talking about nature or something per this thread. I personally don't care if, "There is no discussion of how many olive trees or fig trees or song birds or other wildlife or domestic animals may have been killed" when there is human life being lost. Look at the title of this thread. That's what this was about. BTW, DB's short video clip should have been educational for you as well as others you might send it too.
