"Only by restoring constitutional restraints on the ability of Congress to spend, can we constrain the growth of the federal government," Orrin Hatch said in the weekly Republican address. "The solution to a spending crisis is not tax increases. Yet, Washington has consistently demonstrated that it cannot control its urge to spend."
"The truth is, you can't solve our deficit without cutting spending," Obama said. "But you also can't solve it without asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share -- or without taking on loopholes that give special interests and big corporations tax breaks that middle-class Americans don't get."
There will be no new taxes. Maybe they can make some kind of deal on the loopholes.

They need to close all the so-called "green-energy" loopholes and the loophole that excludes union dues from taxation (especially since unions are mostly just PACs that poor workers are forced to belong to).
There are others, but lets see how serious they are about closing loopholes.
Thanks, Al.
If you would stop and pay attention to what I have actually posted, you would see I'm all for funding research into alternative energy. But, I am not for completely dismantling the current system until it is able to be fully replaced.
I don't have to tell them anything. Like you, they willfully ignore the details.
