The healthcare bills (2011, 2017) are a double standard times 2 (Democrats & Republicans).
Democrats crafted their bill in secret and saw no need to read it before voting. Now, they have a different expectation for Republicans.
Republicans were (rightly) furious that the Democrats crafted their bill in secret and didn't allow them to read it before voting. But, they believe it's fine for them to do the same.
The government meddling in healthcare has cost me plenty. A pox on both their houses.
At least now it's possible to get health insurance without the corresponding health CARE. Who'd a thunk. They might as well just create a single payer system that you can either opt in or out of and just leave the marketplace alone.
The republicans are not expecting any votes from the democrats on the current bill. Why should they coddle to them? If any democrat says they will consider a vote for it they will be allowed to see it. Also, the new one can be read in under one hour. It took days to read through Obamacare.
You've been watching CNN again.
NPR has been having a field day attacking Trump over Russia yet have no problem being sponsored by Kaspersky.
Still? You'd think they would be one of the first to get the new script with the "obstruction" ending.
Oh wait....it's been proven by surveys conducted by leftist idiots that NPR is an unbiased source of information and the folks who listen are vastly superior to those who don't. Nevermind.
The Senate is working on the bill in secret because it differs so much from the House bill. No need in bickering until the bill is offered up.
Again, Democrats interested in supporting something other than the insanity of Obamacare will be allowed to see the bill well before the vote.
I think they owe it to good ole Nan to let her read it so she can know what's in it.
Why are all the Democrats spouting off how many people are going to lose coverage with this proposal - that they will have nothing to do with, if it is such a secret??????
(God help our great-grandchildren)
The dems are truly dysfunctional. Can you imagine how many political points they'd score if they came out today and said "We have received the Republican healthcare plan, and we are going to appeal to our friends across the aisle to alter the plan so that those losing their coverage under this bill will be able to keep it and to make the system work better for everyone." If they looked like they were actually serving the interests of the American people instead of just acting like petulant children that didn't get their way, I would be willing to bet they'd take over control of the house in 2018.
And I don't get the repubs that come out and say they oppose the plan, either. There is a house bill and a senate bill, and there are going to be amendments introduced to make sure everyone can have a say in the process. Wouldn't a better approach be to say you look forward to offering your ideas to the bill that was introduced to make it better?
What kind of idiots do we send to Washington these days? Little spoiled babies!
Nobody at all, the way I understand it. I am just saying they look totally infantile and unreasonable by being a camera whore and barfing out fear mongering talking points without even acknowledging they are, and should be, a part of the process.
Even if the plan is perfect, just saying that you need to make sure the bill supports the american public allows you to take credit for being a reasonable person and good legislator, even if it is all a lie.
The way Schumer and Pelosi work, it is more likely they will get some fringe lefty to be violent rather than get some sane person to vote for them.
Dems don't stop at losing coverage. They say old people will die. Now when anybody over age 65 kicks the bucket it will be Trump's fault.
