This LA Tech team has MAJOR Red Zone problems. It's truly absurd how they can't score TD's from inside the 20.
So no one could manage to post a score? It was that bad?!
Is Franklin still the OC? I watched the first half and never heard his name mentioned. Something is up with his involvement or non-involvement in this offense and play calling. This crap is too close to what we've been seeing from our HC for me to believe Franklin is calling plays.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but...
The sack should not have been targeting as the QB slipped or it would not have been face-to-face.
On the punt return TD that was called back, it looked like the defender slipped (I didn't rewatch, but I'm not sure our guy touched him).
On 2nd & 7 on WKU OT drive, the QB was 1.5 yards past the line of scrimmage when he threw an incomplete pass. Should have been 5yd penalty with loss of down.
That said, our play calling was atrocious on offense throughout. The plays where there were no down D-lineman, we got burned every time. 1 missed FG and 1 botched snap. Or the defense makes one 4th down stop.
Also, it felt like every time our D make a tackle for loss, we'd immediately give up a huge pass play.
The zebras were horrible and Crummy even worse. Amazed the game was actually close.
Sam Houston State is pathetic. They are 0-7 with only one competitive game. On paper this SHOULD be a Tech win. But, we all know how that "on paper" often goes.
As always, it's a perfect storm. We never play well enough to beat bad calls from the hats. A few bad calls shouldn't break our backs.
Defense played well on short yardage, but you're right, that'd be immediately followed by a 15 yard completion across the middle.
Cumbie never learns. Play doesn't work? Keep running it! Opponent is running a successful play over and over? Don't make any changes!
Curious if we will protest any of these bad calls to the conference. Not like it does any good but if you let people walk all over you they will.
