If we are in C-USA still, here is my projected conference schedule based on a flip of this year's schedule (- UTEP):

We have Non-Conference games scheduled 09/19 @ USM and 9/26 vs. UL-L. The UL-L game and contract have been removed from LaTechSports.com.

I expect us to pick up a $ game for 9/5 or non-September date and replace UL-L & USM with G5 opponents. We could potentially obtain a waiver to play a Week 0 game if needed. FBS college football teams with non-conference openings in 2026

Northwestern State will probably move to 9/5. We still need 2 more games.

All the of the PAC 12 schools (Washington St, Oregon St, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State) will need to add an opponent (mostly in October/November).


Some schools are overscheduled, so we could pick up one of their dropped games.
Georgia: likely to drop WKU or Louisville
Mississippi St: ULM, @ Minnesota, or Troy

You don't think ULM lobbies hard to get that first game back with us in Monroe? I wouldn't be surprised if their support was contingent on that happening (that's what they should have done honestly).

If we are in SB (as expected), I'd try to swap ULL and USM for UTEP and TXST. I don't think LSU will play us twice in two years. For the money game I'd probably see what we could get from Stanford and if that isn't realistic just take the highest offer from the rest.


The traditional Tech approach would be to add at least one extra money game and blame it on the conference-change (or anything really). In the late nineties or early aughts it'd have been "oh well, there was an unrelated schedule change so now the only option is @A&M and @USC and @Miami, sorry nothing else we could do." But since we need wins hopefully we stick with the pattern and just do 1 $, 1 FCS, home and away G6.

SMU should WANT to play LA Tech as often as possible. It's an easy drive for their fans, and let's face it, it's an almost guaranteed FBS win for the Mustangs.
