Re: geologist
Petroleum Engr. and other majors like Agricultural Engineering were dropped years ago. This is not uncommon from what many schools have done. Programs like this can be (and were) very good, but they can also limit the possibilities of young engineers. Petroleum and Chemical Engineering are not that different. Agricultural and Mechanical overlap in many ways. The Petroleum or Agricultural industry today view Chemical or Mechanical the same as Petroleum or Agricultural. However the same cannot be said about the Mechanical and Chemical industry. They will only take Mechanical or Chemical engineers. Not only was the decision to drop these programs financially wise. It also help alumni remain marketable when their industry was in a slump.
