I gotcha. I was defined by the '80s. In fact, two of my favorite movies that define me are The Tao of Steve and High Fidelity which are reflections of the typical "80s guy. I really related to High Fidelity, plus I'm a big John Cusack fan. High Fidelity was a great picture of the reflective 80s man, in my opinion.
What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
Best "80's" film that defines the "pop culture" of that time....

Less Than Zero - to me this is a very UNDERRATED film - also a very dark film for its time....
