Re: Dawgs, Techsters in Fayetteville track meet

Several photos posted under other Tech sports. Coleman plus most of the women.

Tech had one trainer. LSU brought a trainer for every runner, or at least it appeared that way with all of them there an hour early using all the training tables at once!

Our girls run relays tomorrow. Last year they were very good at the 4x400 and 4x100. I am pretty sure they qualified for the NCAA's last year.

One of the girls told me she was running the 800 Saturday but the rest were done. Check the lists.

Lots of photos on the photo plog. Look in the category of other tech sports for most of them.

Please offer comments, questions and names of people in the photos. I can't remember names even when introduced and couldn't find a roster online or team photos or bios of the track and field team members. So please identify yourself or others in the photos. Fans want to be able to recognize Tech athletes!

I manage to catch one of the Womens races. Nice it was SC, LSU 2nd and LA Tech 3rd. Seems like we are really competing up there

Re: Dawgs, Techsters in Fayetteville track meet

Tech women placed 3rd in the 4 X 400, a time of 3:35+ . Ran even. Kind of got into 3rd early on and stayed there, unable to make up ground on either South Carolina or LSU. But, there were 6 teams running. So....

Our track coaches are to be commended. They do a great job, especially considering the lack of facilities and support from Joakes.

Re: Dawgs, Techsters in Fayetteville track meet

Yes, 80, the three coaches were busy trying to work individually with athletes in several events and a young lady serving as trainer had plenty to do, while LSU appeared to have a personal trainer for every athlete. That is an exaggeration but I walked in a couple of hours before the Friday night events and LSU athletes were getting massages and stretching on all the training and medical tables available.

As with scholarships (a few full scholarships to split among numerous potential track stars), the budget for coaches isn't what is needed. As in other sports at Tech, numerous volunteer coaching hours make the quality of the program possible.

I had the privilege of watching Coach Stanley and Coach Carmichael (a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time volunteer filling what should be a fullt-time slot with the throwing squad) at work and was impressed with the way the athletes paid attention and stayed focused in a stressful environment.

The current level of success is impressive and any support we can offer is likely to help make it continue.

Did you visit our pictures in the photoplog? Sorry I didn't do a better job, but I was trying to get a little video and still shots by switching cameras. Often, in doing that, I choose the wrong camera at a given moment. And, of course, I still haven't learned to post video online.
