    McNeese up next for Hammerin' Dawgs

    McNeese is off to an 0-4 start, but was the Southland Conference regular season champion last year, and is predicted to win the SLC East this season. UTA, the team Tech took 2 of 3 from on the road last week, is a co-favorite to win the SLC West.

    McNeese should be a tough opponent for us this weekend. Two of their losses have been to Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, who are both in the Top 25. They also have an extra-innings loss.

    The games at J.C. Love are at 6, 3 and 1, Friday through Sunday, and a veritable heat wave is expected, with temperatures getting all the way up into the 50s.

    Let's go out and support the new Murderer's Row, our own Diamond Dawgs.

    The pitching rotation this weekend is Burnett Friday, Rupert Saturday and Moseley Sunday, with Jericho filling a long relief role.

    That sounds like a recipe of success to me. I think our catchers will be very busy throwing runners out this weekend. McNeese was ranked #5 nationally in 2006 in stolen bases ( 142 ). They swiped 10 bases on us last year in one game ( the second game of the season last year ).They are 6 for 10 sb's in their first 4 games but I bet they will try to open the floodgates against us this weekend. Incidentely....we stole only 50 bases last season. We were 50 for 80. With more speed on our club this year those numbers will go up. GO DAWGS !!!!

    McNeese is reportedly a veteran team, with solid pitching and some good players. This will be a good test for us.

    Alsup is usually the first pitcher out of the bullpen on Fridays; Hudson on Saturdays, and Jericho will either close or be first relief on Sundays. We need to get our top six pitchers used to their roles before conference play begins in two weeks.
