Louisiana Tech rallied in the final inning to come from behind and give coach Wade Simoneaux his 100th career win. Tech (12-6) scored four runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Grambling State (7-8) by the score of 10-7.Tech jumped on the Tigers early with two home runs and it looked like the game could turn into a slugfest again. But after Brian Rike and Courtney Jones hit their solo shots, the Bulldogs struggled to produce much offense. A three-run shot by Adam Cobb opened the lead up to 5-1 in the top of the fourth.Grambling State would battle back with timely hitting, however, eventually taking the lead in the seventh."Grambling made it a close game," Simoneaux said. "That team is night and day from where they were last year. They're doing an outstanding job of coaching this team."As the Tigers chipped away at Tech's lead with runs in the fourth and fifth inning and two runs in the sixth, Simoneaux said he felt the emotion shift to Grambling."They had all the momentum in the world," Simoneaux said. "And we overcame it."Back-to-back doubles put Tech in a jam in the sixth inning, and the Tigers only trailed by one after the inning. Two singles and a double steal put two runners in scoring position for Osagie Oviawe, who singled in both runners for the 7-6 lead.Tech's Brandon Hudson gave up the single to fall behind facing his first batter on the mound. Then, he proceeded to shut down the Tigers. Only one more batter reached base the remainder of the game for Grambling, and Hudson did not give up another hit. His teammates responded with a ninth-inning rally.Down a run to Grambling State, Hudson popped out to start the ninth. Dennis Winn and Albie Goulder both drew walks, and Cobb reached on an error by the pitcher to load the bases with one out. Drew Bunting came in to pinch hit, and delivered again. Bunting singled to center field and scored two runs to take the lead. Grambling went three-up-three-down to end the game."We're going to hit. I'm not worried about that," Simoneaux said. "We have to continue to pitch and play good defense to win games. I think Jericho Jones had one of is best outings tonight, and Hudson was great."Jones came in to relieve Jeffrey DeAlejandro in the first inning and threw 3.1 innings allowing three hits, one earned run and struck out seven. Hudson (3-1) got the win in 2.2 innings of work.Cobb led Tech at the plate hitting 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Rike and Goulder both hit 2-for-4 with a run. Rike had two RBIs.Grambling State begins SWAC play on Saturday afternoon in Prairie View, Texas as they face Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m.Tech takes the field next at 6 p.m. Friday as conference play begins against Sacramento State. Saturday's game has been moved to 6 p.m., and Sunday's finale will be at 1 p.m.
