I watched the game. That Okie State girl got a call on Bowling Green for blocking. She THOUGHT they were calling her for a charge. She was so mad that she mouthed off. So, what would have put them only 2 points down, ended up keeping them 4 points down (Okie State made both free throws and BG made both technical free throws). It, probably, cost them the game.

Saying all that, the PG from Okie State was awesome. Reminded me a lot of Latta for North Carolina.

It was a huge mistake, but I really didn't understand some of Budke's decisions. Does this sound familiar? Two big players against a team with no one over about 6' and he doesn't go inside -- just shoots from outside.

Also thought they blew it in their last minute execution. Down 4 with 50 seconds left, playing 30 seconds of defense is a dubious decision.

Glad BG won. A OSU win would have killed by ESPN bracket.

Yes, I wondered about the time decision as well. If they had prevented a full 20 seconds from ticking off, they would have had another chance.

I had hesitated posting anything about Budke since I was accused of fanning the flames in the past. But I will post the following:

Perhaps, just PERHAPS, Budke encountered some of the problems with the Tech administration that others have encountered.

Budke has done a phenomenal job at Okie State. No, not by the standards of many on this board, but honestly, you're biased. Nationally, he is recognized as a great coach who has taken a program that was non existent and got them to the tourney.

Budke had a freshman leading the floor. On this board, I hear that our freshmen have to "learn the system." So far, I've not seen a glimpse of greatness from any of Long's recruits. I say "greatness" because although there were moments where they were good, that was in comparison to a really weak team in a really weak conference.

The next recruiting class looks good on paper. While many of you wait for the magical return of the Techster tradition next season, I wait to see if what I fear is true: Most of the players were not recruited by any of the big names. We're getting third and fourth tier recruits, and with someone like Leon coaching, that would be good enough, but I've not seen anything from Long that convinces me he will know what to do with the talent he has recruited.

I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion. You may feel Budke destroyed the Tech program. I simply think you're wrong, and watching what he did with OSU proves to ME that Budke wasn't the issue. His team that played yesterday, and almost beat a higher seed, would have wiped the floor with this year's Techster team.

I know, I know. But for the past few years, I've been filling them out with the men's brackets since the Techsters have always been in the tourney. You can still win money (if you're any good - $10,000 I think), and there is a LOT less competition.

For example, my poor men's bracket, I'm ranked like 1,258,050th place. In my poor women's bracket, I'm like in 46,000th place. Makes me feel just a little bit better.
