I just bought a house and now want to invest in an outdoor grill...I'm having a hard time choosing between either buying a gas or charcoal grill. Which do you guys use? And what are the pros and cons about them?

Charcoal...superior heat FOR THE MONEY (meaning you can get VERY hot and consistent gas grills, but it will cost you...the standard Weber is a great gas grill, but it was more expensive than this student could affortd). Superior flavor (IMO)
Gas...if you get a decent grill, gas is VERY consistent at reasonable temperatures. Gas is also incredibly convenient. I bought a gas grill for convenience (and because I thought I had a charcoal grill coming from my in-laws).
If you're just deciding on taste, ask yourself this question...
How many grilling/bbq competitions use gas?

Gas, excellent temperature control, almost no wait time. If you miss the smoke from charcoal just add some chips and you're good to go.
Nothing further to add: Charcoal for taste, gas for convenience (wait time, temperature control, and cleanup).

I use strictly charcoal with mesquite chips. Yes, it's a lot of clean-up (which I do after every use) but superior smoke favor. I like to cook "country ribs" which makes a big mess anyway because it is so fatty. With charcoal, I just spray everything with easy-off, let it sit for 1/2 hour and then spray with plenty of water. I have 3 charcoal grills and the big Weber is the best. Got a used one at auction for $14.
Usually, I cook the country ribs first, then some brats or sausage, and finally, when the temperature is lower and steady, some salmon fillets.
Charcoal is what real men use to cook. Tastest better.
Gas is quick and easy.
I have a charcoal because it was handed down to me and I love it. Possibly the greatest gift anyone has ever given me.
CHARCOAL ONLY!!!! Use the natural lump charcoal if you can find it.
