San Jose game 2

someone who went to the game please explain to me why we balked 3 times. Something we should not be doing at the end of the season, much less 3 times. Was the ump just jumpy or did we really balk 3 times, I think we did once last night too. We are up 12-8 in the top of the 8th, we need to finish this one, 3 errors, our hitting has been excellent, Goulder with 2 bombs, we need to finish strong.

I was at the game. One balk was due to a change in signal calls between Combs and the pitcher. The other two were very questionable, especially the one that plated the runner from 3rd. The umpire was lost as a goose, even forgot the darned count at one point and had to stop the game to ASK THE COACHES of both teams.

Rupert brought his "A" game to the mound today. Everything he was throwing early seemed to be a strike. He tired later in the game and was not happy when Sim pulled him, but it was the right time. Lorio only faced the very last batter and pretty much gobbled him up with that powerful fastball.

There is not one umpire in the world that hasn't forgotten the count before. To his credit, that happened right after one of the balks. The bad thing was he asked the 1st base umpire who never looked at his counter, and just nodded. The 3rd base ump jumped out and corrected him. 1st base ump needs to be told; if you don't know it, shut your mouth.

This was the same ump that was already halfway through his out call at the moment of action. Needless to say, he was less than impressive, and I hope that his boneheadedness doesn't hurt us in today's game.
