Like I stated a few posts back; "Hopefully the strong spiritual and biblical aspect of these Hispanic illegal's (mainly Catholic and/or evangelical backgrounds) will kick in one day per
the democrats evil killing babies and in "your face" pro-homosexual agenda since these Mexicans are also incredibly pro family."
Over 50% of Roman Catholics support the democraps. For them, the notion of "helping the poor" trumps the abortion issue. I belong to an email Catholic newsletter that does its best of being politically neutral. They stick to the facts....raw numbers....w/o too much in the way of editorial commentary. The newsletter does, however, have contributing writers who are free to post articles that span the width and breadth of politics.
In 2008 about 54% of RC supported obummer, in 2012 it was just over 51%.
People's pocketbooks and their personal financial situation remains the single most influential factor in how we vote.
Obama has blown/failed each of these miserably.
Protecting and defending our borders
The US Economy - "It's the economy stupid"
Foreign policy decisions - lead from behind and get 100,000's killed doing it across the globe. Peace is flee everywhere at this moment in time.
Being a leader - nuff said
Telling the truth to the American people
Protecting and defend the Constitution
Protecting and defending the American people
etc, etc, etc.....
I work closely with several black churches in helping members of those congregations start/grow small businesses. The pastors say and do all the right things. When you speak to members of those churches they are waaaaaaaaaay to the right of me on most issues. Yet....they continually, at about 95%, vote for the democraps in election after election. Why? Because they think that the Repubs will cut off food stamps, etc and not they are on food stamps or some other social program themselves, but members of their family are, neighbors are, etc... If you listen to them speak on political topics they sound like any conservative you know. Heck, even MORE conservative! That's how they live their own lives and what they teach their children. It's a strange paradox.
Conservatives, and note I did not say "Repubs", have to do a better job of crafting the message. Well, all we really need to do is get copies of these pastors' sermons. They articulate the conservative message better than most:
1) importance of a strong family
2) importance of living a moral life
3) helping others to help themselves
4) "the power" of being independently capable of caring for oneself (and their family)
This is why they preach economic development and economic autonomy.
There is a disconnect between what people believe, and how they vote.
Social justice. Another way of saying Marxism. Blacks and Catholics are big believers in it.
Good article on it:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/...l_justice.html
Love the summary.
"The truth is that the only "class" in the United States excluded from reaping the benefits of capitalism is the class that chooses not to participate in American society. Fueled by the rhetoric of leftists, this class sits idle, dreaming of perceived wrongs that justify its inactivity. The only exploitation in America is committed by politicians, who use stolen money to subsidize this class in exchange for votes. That is not justice -- it is criminal."
Good article, as long as one is not concerned with accuracy. It claims "the left" won't offer precise definitions for social justice, but the truth is that many definitions have been offered. It's just that "the right's" paranoia won't allow them to accept them. Most definitions are about equal access and individuals' opportunities to reach their potential.
Jonah Goldberg does a nice job explaining it:
