    Re: Immigration

If we keep focusing on the symptoms and never address the cause, it will only get worse.

It is funny. All we have to do to stop the mass immigration is to mind our own business. But, no, we will keep making criminals of our citizens and immigrants of our neighbors.

Champ967: De caul pais eres, amigo?
    Parking lot attendant: De Mexico.
Me: Oigo que es muy hermosa alla.
Him: Si, pero hay mucho violencia tambien.

We are a county made up almost entirely of immigrants or descendants of immigrants. That is irrefutable so we don't want to admit it, and then don't want to talk about it.

You know how I feel about freedom by now. Our society has taken away my freedom to abuse my body with drugs and in turn has taken away the freedom of the people of Central America to live in safety.

The money we spend on prosecuting our citizens for making their bodies feel good is tremendous. The money we spend trying to keep people out of our country who are fleeing danger imposed by the organized crime we have created is tremendous as well.

Let them in. Let them assimilate. Kick out the ones who kill people, steal, and break things.

    Re: Immigration

Danger is a symptom, too, not a cause.

Assimilation would be great. Except, you know, they don't want to assimilate. Some do. Most don't. There's being proud of your heritage and former culture, but it first has to be heritage and former culture, with strong emphasis on former. We can scream until we're blue about how we're built on multiculturalism and immigration, but we're really not. The immigrants of the past assimilated. They didn't completely shed their old ways, but they didn't have their old ways trump the new. Unless, that is, it was something that could improve the United States. Turning the United States into the "old country" just makes the United States worse. That is the direction overall immigration has done to the United States the last 25 years (at least).

These are precisely the same things that were said of the Irish, Italian, Chinese, etc newcomers in earlier centuries. Everything turned out fine.

Pretty sure I indirectly referenced them.

Most do assimilate. The biggest thing that prevents assimilation is not letting work and get a driver's license. Second generation immigrants have the same red neck accents as the long time residents here. They play American football. They speak English as a first language. And most of them are smart and want your kid's professional jobs.

No that is so wrong!!! Don't let the ones in that kill people, steal, rape and break things. Don't let them in first!!!
Actually obey and use the laws in place!

Or we could update the laws. That makes everyone happy, right?

The legal process for gaining entry to the United States isn't written in stone (or shouldn't be). Immigration regs can and do change.

Not really, or there wouldn't be this argument.
