ULM- Where is our mascot?
Our mascot should have been at the Tech game to fire up our fans. What did we get instead? Mr. Staub arranged for a Chick-Fil-A cow (with neutral affiliations at best) escorted by a lady wearing a La Tech ball cap to be at the stadium! I am not kidding, the La Tech girl followed the cow around the ULM fans, saying, "hi" and flaunting the Tech ball cap in our face. Staub was there and should have noticed this detail and told her that it was tacky of her wearing that hat when she is representing a Monroe business who is supposedly supporting ULM. Although Tech was still having classes this week and ULM students were out, our mascot should have been at this game and there should have been alot more effort to get students (most ULM students live in Ouachita parish) to this important clash. Being a mascot has got to be more than just being paid or having a scholarship, you have to really love ULM (e.g., bleed maroon and gold) and love being the mascot beyond such mudane matters. The mascot ought to be brave enough and proud enough of ULM to show up in Ruston to support us and in Monroe for this critical I-20 series especially. Frankly, the one we have is NOT matching up to these stadards.
Honestly, it was embarrassing to see so many Tech students at our stadium painted up, with Tech flags, with the stupid gorilla dude as well. We need in baseball what we accomplished in mens basketball. ULM students need to be equally on fire for ULM baseball. We need to get Bobby Staub to find a way to get the greek houses and the dormies to have this kind of enthusiasm for our team as the Tech students appear to show for what appears to be an inferior sports program currently! Is Mr. Staub clueless about such important details as these?

Actually, I've wondered about their mascot. Do they have one yet? I've never seen their "Warhawk."

I had an interesting conversation with a ULM police officer. He said when the Tech gorilla dude came into the stadium, he stopped him before he came into our stadium. He asked the guy if he was going to cause any trouble. The gorilla said he was just here to "have fun." The officer replied that he had a long day and was in no mood for the gorilla "stirring up things" and if he did he would go to jail. After that "come to Jesus meeting" during the entire game the gorilla guy stayed on the Tech side and behaved himself. This ugly dude had his gorilla hat off most of the time until Tech hit the grand slam and then he pointed at the ULM faithful but stayed on his side and did not come over to taunt our fans. Final note, he did not need the gorilla hat, his face matched the outfit. In the end, the good guys prevailed. As we did at the Lady Techster games, we sent him back to the sticks of Rusty town with his head down, dejected after we "wrecked Tech"--even after Tech's grand slam! These Warhawks do not give up, for Tech we must be like a bad dream that keeps repeating itself.


This is totally not true. The cop asked if I had any shirts left and I said I had no idea what he was talking about and that I had no idea why everyone assumes that was me.

their mascot was there for the first game. he was down at their playground playing with the kids. they are hatin for no reason.

the girl in the tech cap at chickfila graduated from tech in accounting...

This is off topic, but I've noticed that in the West Monroe McAlister's there is a Tech pennant on the wall but I have not noticed a ULM pennant.
