This war was sold to the UN as punishment for Iraq failing to comply with sanctions against weapons of mass destruction, but there were many more reasons than just that. It is way too early to pass judgement on the Iraq war. Nothing has failed yet, regardless of what the politicians tell you (in order to keep their personal power). It will be another 20 years before we know the impact of this war. And yes, it may still fail, but in my opinion, it was well worth the risk. Our biggest obstacle to success is our leadership playing partisan politics... this is much bigger than Nancy Pelosi or George Bush.
Mainstream America determines elections, wheter that be by popular vote or by the electoral college. I feared for our country's sanity when Clinton was elected twice just like you fear for our country's sanity now.
It would be great to get Bin Laden, but it wouldn't take long for the radicals to replace him... maybe minutes or hours. This battle is not against flesh and blood, but principles and philosophies. The best way to change their philosophies is through democracy. The terrorists are not mainstream muslims. If mainstream muslims can become self-sufficient, they will turn on the extremists.
You won't get an argument from me about the spending habits of GWB! He, and his Republican buddies spend like socialists. I would think you would be in favor of all the spending programs and the enlargement of the federal government under his watch?
"GWB is a lot worst President than Jimmy Carter."
You must be young. Jimmy Carter was the worst president in the history of this nation. It isn't even debatable. He did nothing good and to this day, we are still suffering through some of the consequences of his term. In his re-election campaign, he only won 1 state (South Dakota?). Imagine an electoral map with ALL RED... New York, California, Massachusetts and his home state of Georgia... they all voted against Carter.
"Even the village idiot could do a better job than George Bush has done."
We'll never know. I will give him one thing though.... he was not a bad Vice President under Clinton.
