Experts: ‘Big Freeze’ about 12,800 years ago happened within months

The film "The Day After Tomorrow" was all good fiction when it came out in 2004, but now scientists are finding eerie truths to the possibilities of sudden temperature swings.

In the film, "The Day After Tomorrow," the world gets gripped in ice within the span of just a few weeks. Now research now suggests an eerily similar event might indeed have occurred in the past.
Looking ahead to the future, there is no reason why such a freeze shouldn't happen again — and in ironic fashion it could be precipitated if ongoing changes in climate force the Greenland ice sheet to suddenly melt, scientists say.
Starting roughly 12,800 years ago, the Northern Hemisphere was gripped by a chill that lasted some 1,300 years. Known by scientists as the Younger Dryas and nicknamed the"Big Freeze," geological evidence suggests it was brought on when a vast pulse of fresh water — a greater volume than all of North America's Great Lakes combined — poured into the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.

"President Barack Obama and Congress are talking about $1.2 billion a year from the U.S. for international climate aid, which includes adaptation. The U.N. climate chief, Yvo de Boer, said $10 billion to $12 billion a year is needed from developed countries through 2012 to "kick-start" things. Then it will get even more expensive."
Well, if global warmists believe the stuff they are peddling then it should be their goal to keep 3rd world countries, 3rd world countries and push others in that direction. Economic development will just cause more people to get cars and for factories to be built and for forests to be cleared to provide resources to build houses, etc..
If we are to accept the theory, then we need less western-style development, not more. China and India are two of the biggest polluters. They have adopted western-style development and now look at what's happened!
Keep the natives naked and living in grass huts!
By the way, we're having snow here today....brrrrrr, thank gawd for global warming.
Dang, you know that logic doesn't make any sense to a Lib/Dem/GW alarmist. Your above hits another obvious nail in their coffin they will never admit or even care about. They absolutely can not handle real logic and as evidenced, real science facts. They are a sad lot wanting to cause panic by playing scientist toward their own power and $$ grab goals. I see them as theives and scam artist. It's amazing how many of our own on here have/had bought into that bogus crap. A Tech education should have put them easy over this one. Then again, Salty and a few others on here never went to TECH.
And yet Boxer wants the hacking to be investigated, instead of the content of the e-mails. Talking about a disconnect with reality. Ultimately, I hope whenever this craziness ends, the hackers are treated like heros for being the catalyst that brings down this conspiracy.

Rather than poll all Americans whether or not they believe global warming is true, perhaps you should poll scientists who understand the data. As a scientist myself, I imagine you would get a much different result. I don't personally know another scientist who doubts it.
Maybe this is part of the problem. This self proclaimed scientist doesn't know another scientist who doubts it. They really need to stop hanging out with only people who agree with themselves. Consensus mob like mentality amoung scientists can't not be good for discovery.
