I have a son beginning his 3rd year at Tech. A wife teacher and a daughter teacher (both middle school). Time to get going.
OPS has a plan. How do you snowflakes feel about having school before Trump is defeated?
Will EllAye Tech give a refund?

Take some sensible precautions, and OPEN the schools!
This is what Ouachita Parish has done.
The issue (not as much with OPS) is the bus situation. Many/most parishes don't have enough buses to practice social distancing on the buses. I think it's more an excuse than a problem. It can be fixed. If we can buy them all chrome pads, we can buy more buses. Good grief!
Oh, and something OPS has NOT done is check temps when they arrive on school property. Check immediately, NOT once they get in home room. Check them before they get out of the parents car or the bus.
This should be a non issue, like it is in many other developed countries around then world, but we have a president that is AWOL when it comes to leading a competent pandemic response, choosing instead to throw unproductive rhetoric grenades from the sideline as he icing his bone spurs.
It's not his decision. You do know that each State, University System, School Board System has a Governor, President, and School Board right?
He is putting them on the hot seat and offering whatever they need to make it happen. All of the blue states and cities would rather just stay hunkered down and riot more.
It was his decision not to control the virus.
It was his decision not to push masks and, in fact, to undermine the effort initially.
It was his decision to encourage people to fight the early lockdowns.
It was his decision fo push for early reopenings for communities that had not yet achieved the CDC guidelines for a safe reopening.
He has turned each of these public health issues into political wedge issues, trying to find political advantage rather than take the necessary unpopular steps to lead America through a crisis.
He would love to use school reopenings as a similar wedge issue.
It sucks that people are unnecessarily losing their jobs and some kids may be getting left behind it. I empathize with these families. The harm that is suffered cannot and will not be entirely erased no matter what happens in the future.
It didn’t have to be this way. Hopefully people remove the problem in November.
First of all, there is no way you "empathize" with them. You have NEVER experienced what they are experiencing. You can't begin to even know. Makes for a good political tool though. That's what all this is about anyway.
I wish Trump would not have created the problems in Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and other dark blue areas. Orange Man Bad!
I just love how 330 million people can't even take a crap unless the POTUS shows 'em how or gives his permission. Well, 330 million - 1, because I don't need any POTUS (R) or (D) to help me live my life.
It's tiresome Goosey. You must really be stupid...no, I mean in the true definition of the term: Stupid- the inability to learn. Well as the great philosopher Ron White said, "You can't fix stupid."
Carry on.
Hahahahaha! You guys were HAMMERING Obama on H1N1 earlier this year. Now that we've got 10x deaths of H1N1 in half the time, poor little Trump is just being bullied by the mean old haters.
Time is your friend. Impulse is your enemy. -John Bogle
A pandemic is pretty much the rebuttal that is always given when you debate individualism vs collectivism. This is the rare exception where individual accountability fails because the safety and welfare of everyone relies on the participation of nearly everyone. Until we have a vaccine, people’s health and livelihoods are dependent on cooperation. Cooperation requires strong leadership.
Ron White was speaking of you too...
The 2009-10 Swine Flu (aka Mexican Flu) infected 61 million Americans with a confirmed death count of 12,500. Just Googled it and there is a recent study that pushes that number up closer to 18,000. Regardless, the 2009 flu was just that, a slight variant of the common influenza virus for which many people have at least partial immunity. I posted an overview of the known history of the flu previously on this forum. obummer and his ilk did nothing, absolutely nothing and 61 million Americans got sick...me included, with 103F fever and a few days of feeling yucky. It was the third time I had had the flu up to that point, and I got it again in 2013 while returning from Europe, some rare sub-Sahara strain for which our normal flu shot does not account for. Oh, obummer was president then too...it's all his fault! How dare he not instruct the vaccine makers to account for that rare strain. No leadership!
No one mentioned, or even cared about mentioning the 2009 Mexican Flu epidemic, until some goofballs started blaming our valiant leader, President Trump, for things that were not his fault, under his control, nor should have been under his control. Not if you believe in the sovereignty of duly elected mayors and governors...
obummer was lucky his big epidemic was a routine flu. So was President Bush's, in 2006, I think it was. His was a regular flu outbreak too. Lots of people got it, got sick, not too many died...thankfully.
We all know it doesn't matter what Trump does or doesn't do for you anti-America types, longing to bring this nation down. You have ZERO credibility....which places you above Goosey who is charting negative credibility.
Anybody defending Trump’s Covid response lost their credibility a long time ago. Most of them lost it in 2015.
