Most of the top players will recieve letters from many colleges and then a phone call to gauge thier initerest. Some schools may even ask for a return letter if they are interested. i imagine all schools do it a little different, but in our case, there has to be a lot of interst from the recruit for us to go very far outside our area. At least that is how it used to work 15 years ago. There are also those that contact the hs coach and recruit from that angle.
