I tried to find the article by the actual prof and couldn't. It's not in our databases yet. You should probably take the news show with a grain of salt. The mainstream media very seldom really gets a scholarly article right. The tendency to turn it into sound-bites makes it difficult to get what someone has just used 5000 words to say.
Blaming modern narcissism on Mr. Rogers would be stupid, though. If anything he's more of a symptom of the general direction of the country than anything like a cause.
Next thing you know people are going to blame gayness on the teletubbies.
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
Not that I think "gayness" is a problem. I don't really get it (except for woman-on-woman action, which makes very much sense) but to each his/her own.

Yall have to be kidding me. I watch this silly moring "news" program with my wife every morning and there is a lot of sarcasm in that story. You can tell they are all laughing about it. They are never serious on that show. They are just offering stories that are out there. Too funny that people take that seriously.
Good point.
I was always a big fan of Pee-Wee's Playhouse even when i was probably way too old to watch it. Now that show's title seems kind of ironic doesn't it.!?
[edit] Arrests
On July 26, 1991, Reubens was arrested in Sarasota, Florida for masturbating publicly in an adult theater. The news media went into a frenzy and the scandal marked the near-death of the character "Pee-wee Herman," reducing both the actor and the persona to a ubiquitous punchline. Although the series Pee-wee's Playhouse had already ended by that time, CBS reacted by dropping its reruns from their lineup. Reubens made a deal with the Sarasota County court: in exchange for a fine and producing a few public service announcements, he was given a clean record.
Reubens was arrested again in 2002 in connection with an investigation involving child pornography. Public news stories concerning his case cast doubt upon the suggestion that Reubens intentionally acquired child pornography, as he stated that he was a collector of "erotic artwork" and that he had a sizable collection of vintage erotica with samples dating back to the 18th century. On March 19, 2004, child pornography charges against him were dropped by Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo after Reubens pleaded guilty to a separate "misdemeanor obscenity" charge.
