Guard Ashaolu may be America's best underclassman

"He's definitely a pro prospect already, and he ranks right up there with anyone else who is," says Community Christian third-year head coach Linzy Davis. "As a sophomore, he's already ahead of the pace someone like [Washington Wizards swingman] Jarvis Hayes was at this stage. I'd say he's about on course with where Carmelo Anthony was. Olu brings a different game to the court than either of them, but I think he's a better athlete than both."

Ashaolu will play for Louisiana Tech, not Rutgers
it's a pretty good class right now that's going to take them to the top of the Western Athletic Conference."
All I can say is WOW!
Thanks for the info Jay!
This is very
HUGE!
Thank you for making this possible Karl Malone!
This will probably be the biggest signing by TECH in the last 25 years, maybe ever. This kid has been listed as a top 30 recruit by most of the so called experts.
I know Magnum Rolle was rated higher coming out of High School but we will only have him for 2 years. Olu is rated higher than Millsap was. I don't recall ratings when Malone signed on but we beat out Arkansas for him. Olu had offers from most of the top tier basketball programs in the country.
In four months, Rupp and Company have completely turned around the prospects for this program with the signing of 4 top 150 players in their respective high school classes (Rolle, Wright, Ashaolu and Clark). We have not seen that level of potential in a TECH uniform since 1985. We could very well be the favorites to win the conference as soon as next year.
Throw in the potential of Marvell Waithe and Storm Warren (both ranked in the Top 150) we will have Top 20 talent. If this new bunch of coaches can coach as well as they can recruit, I will expect a ranked TECH team within 3years.
I was going to say that you need to thank Nakita (and truly you should), but really you are right. It was Malone you put the wheels in motion and put his money and reputation on the line. Let's face it, he hand picked Kerry Rupp and this staff, but a BIG "ATTABOY" all the way around!!!
And thank you, Olu!
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
Time to move back to Louisiana.
Tough to make BBall games from Dallas.
Oh well, looks like some season tickets are in order, along with a couple of roadtrips.
It's crazy that i'm excited about basketball in early august. Thank you Rupp, Nakita, Malone and staff.
Can you say "WAC CHAMPIONS-2009."
