    The Bourne Ultimatum

I went and saw the latest Bourne movie last Friday. It was excellent. It is as good or better than Identity and Supremacy. Awesome action, good script, loved it.

I was suprised that nobody else had started a thread about this yet. Anybody else seen it?

saw it tonight...without a doubt a full throttle adrenaline rush and a very fitting ending to the trilogy...

loved how the writers and even the director Paul Greengrass (directed Supremacy) took this story and this action to a whole nother level...very fast paced with unbelievable stunts, yet slows down when it has to and really digs deeper into the characters and the CIA operations really opening up the plot that has teased us along the way...

    an absolute must see...

    Re: The Bourne Ultimatum

Here's a little review I wrote up...I left out main details of the story to avoid any kind of spoilers for those who haven't seen it...

With the final chapter of the Bourne trilogy coming to a close, The Bourne Ultimatum picks up exactly where we last saw the strong-willed Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), in Moscow evading any and all people who attempt to get in the way of the ultimate truth about his past. From there we jump aboard the wildly insane roller coaster ride following him in his quest around much of the globe from Madrid to Paris and London to Tangier and finally to American soil.

Directed by the extremely talented Paul Greengrass, who also directed the 2nd installment of the trilogy and United 93, this film is a full blown adrenaline rush from the very beginning to a very fitting end. In an effort to stay consistent with the previous two films, and yet take the action itself to a whole new level, it certainly passes the test; amazing up-close fight choreography…check, spectacular on-location cinematography…check, and the signature to the Bourne trilogy, an edge-of-your-seat car chase that rivals The Blues Brothers and Terminator…ultra check. The film was so action packed I thought my heartbeat was an extra bass guitar racing alongside the flurried composition.

But what really took this film from good status to great was everything that a trilogy must do and that is conclude. Even though this one dangled a few plot lines at us, the story kept moving forward and digging deeper into not just Bourne, but all the characters including CIA workers Pam Landy (Joan Allen) and Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles), paving way for many new answers about the beginnings of his whirlwind life as an assassin.

But what really took this film from great status to spectacular was the underlining attack of some very current political questions. Paul Greengrass, known for his political conscious, really tackles the line of morality when it comes to how far will one person, or one nation, go to protect itself. In a country that is surveillance giddy and in a constant state of paranoia, is the difference between right and wrong not so recognizable anymore? In any case, The Bourne Ultimatum triumphs as a gripping spy thriller that possesses what most sequels or threequels try to buy with their big production dollars. Even the added hints of comedy in this film proved to be funnier than all of Shrek 3.

Of course, if I had a complaint about this film (as I usually do about any film), it would only be that there were a couple of too convenient situations that interrupted the pacing and that the motorcycle chase sequence looked too stunt devilish, hardly ever showing Bourne’s face. But bottom line, the film hits on all cylinders and is an absolute must see, preferably in the theater.

Thought the beginning was a little far fetched with the room of CIA people and the voice recognition crap. Picked up one keyword from one person in England? Riiiiight... BTW this kinda thing is possible domestically, I just don't buy it internationally, especialy in a peacful country.

    But the rest was incredible.

Considering that England is a hot bed for terrorism, I would be inclined to believe that monitoring phone records and phone recognition would be very possible in that country, even by us...especially since they're our key ally...

Saw it. Liked every movie in this trilogy.

Yes, there is software that does that... and there are hundreds of people throughout the world that monitor it all too...

If you make a phone call and say the words bomb, Bin Laden and a few others you can bank on it that someone will be listening. This has been going on for years it's not even really new technology.
