    Those are good I liked the one that said, " we didn't Tackle well today, but we made up for it by not blocking."

    I always HATED this quote.

    It's like Royal was lazy and didn't want to be innovative. He wanted his offense to stay in the Dark Ages. He was lazy and didn't want to spend practice time on the forward pass.

    Its like saying that you want to go into battle without using all of your weapons or going to a fight with one arm tied behind your back.

    We can all see the rewards of the modern offenses. Lots of points.

    Yeah, but when he said it his team was pounding the crap out of opposing defenses with the wishbone. They didn't need to throw.

    I understand and it is hard to argue three national titles. But, to read the quote today, it's just so archaic.

    I feel that his philosophy was the main reason that Texas high schools did not produce a decent pro QB until just recently. And, I think that his offensive style eventually led to the UT football lean years cause there were no good passing Texas QB's coming from the high schools. UT had only 2 conference titles between 1975 and 1990.

    Compare the number of pro QB's from Louisiana and from Texas. I believe that the unbelievable difference is because of Darryl Royal.
