Let me clarify. I haven't seen one in its entirety. Just couldn't "relate" to the Duke.

Two great movies -

Anything that John Wayne and Ford did together were classics -

"The Wings of Eagles" is also a classic - the story of Spig Wead and naval career aviation.....

Also like the Duke in THE LONGEST DAY -

If you can't relate to the Duke - you can't relate to apple pie & ice cream, Momma and chicken fried steak!

The Duke was also very good in "bit" parts - like the Centurion in the GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD and as Sherman in HOW THE WEST WAS WON -

As Cartek mentioned - THE QUIET MAN is a very good movie -

Also much under appreciated are THE WAKE OF THE RED WITCH and SEA CHASE -

I think some of his worst work was McQ, THE GREEN BERETS, HELLFIGHTERS and HATARI -

McLintock and Donovan's Reef are good comedies with the under current almost subliminal moral message confronting RACISM -

Other- Donovans Reef, Mclintock, but here is another one I put in this category for just playing well of the other guy and that is War Wagon with Kirk Douglas. Sons of Katie Elder wasn't bad either.
