    Question about GRE requirements

Anyone have any idea about the GRE numbers Tech expects for grad admissions? The offical admissions page just says its required but gives no indication of the scores expected.

Normally, it is a combination of the GRE and GPA. The higher the GPA, the lower you have to score on the GRE and vice-versa.

Give them a call. They'll tell you what it is.

Varies by school, but TDF is right the higher the GPA the lower the GRE can be.

If memory serves me correct, the magic number was 1300 (for college of education at least). Multiply GPA by 200 and add it to your GRE score. My advice for the GRE, lock your self in a room the day before and study until your about to go nuts, then get hammered.

    It works.

I skipped the studying and the alcohol and got a 1390. Seems like the rule is that if you're going to study, you need to get drunk to get the full effect. If you don't drink, don't study, and vice versa.

Maybe you, me, and Lum should do a workshop on this sometime.

    Re: Question about GRE requirements

I called the GRE company to find out when I could take an exam, and they said "Well, we have an opening tomorrow at noon..." So I said ok. 1390, no drinking, no studying.

    Re: Question about GRE requirements

I didn't really study for it and didn't have any problems with it. Don't remember my score but it was good enough. I didn't get drunk but only got a few hours sleep the night before.
