    Hawaii and the BCS???

Could Hawaii be this years mid-major participant in the BCS???

Can they survive Fresno, Boise, Nevada and Washington to go undefeated???

As more teams go down with 2 losses, could Boise make it back into the top 25?

Biggest challenge could be @ Nevada in the snow...

Once they get to the island, I think they'll be alright against Fresno and Washington. Boise will be the toughest one. They've already beat us...I hope they win out and send us that big daddy check.

    Re: Hawaii and the BCS???

Hawai'i will almost certainly be in a Top 16 first level qualifying position in the BC$ rankings after this week with a convincing home win over NMSU.

Six of the seven teams that were immediately ahead of Hawai'i's #17 in last week's rankings lost this week...#10 South Florida, #11 Florida, #12 USC, #14 Kentucky, #15 Virginia, and #16 South Carolina. Two teams close behind Hawai'i...#18 Georgia and #23 Connecticut had wins over teams in that group of six, and #21 Cal is ahead of #4 Arizona State as I post this.

Tennessee (#46 in this week's extended BC$ rankings) controls its own destiny for an $EC championship game bid. Tennessee winning the $EC could guarantee a Hawai'i (or maybe even Boise State) BC$ bid if either is in the final Top 16 and ahead of a BC$ conference champion Vols team.

Boise State could also be in the new BC$ Top 25 since the Broncos were #29 last week. Three of the four teams just ahead of Boise also went down big today...#25 Penn State, #27 Rutgers, and #28 UCLA. If both Boise and Hawai'i keep winning, the game on November 23 could be a BC$ Top 20 matchup.

Who in the college football world actually cares??? A team like that taints the whole bowl system if they get to a BCS bowl. They don't belong and everyone knows it. Let's hope like hell someones beats them.

Yeah, I would hate to get another 400K check in the mail...

Yeah, Hawaii is what discredits the BCS...Notre Dame is BCS perfection.

A post like this one proves you as not being a true college football fan.

Several BC$ conference teams each year don't deserve bowl bids but get them anyway. How can a 12-0 or possibly 12-1 WAC team getting a deserved BC$ bid possibly be a bad thing?....answer...it wouldn't be just as Boise State proved in Glendale.

The only thing you guys are good at is telling people they are not fans. If only you were accurate.

Now if you want Hawaii to get there because it will help our school, then say that. But, performance on the field matters. Hawaii gave up 40+ points to La. Tech, 37 pts to a pathetic Utah St. and nearly lost to an abysmal San Jose. In addition, Hawaii has not one but two DII colleges on their schedule. That is just ridiculous. I remember how Kansas St. used to be criticized for their schedules but even theirs was not that soft. If Hawaii goes undefeated, they should get a Holiday Bowl invite and no better.

They won didn't they? They are 8-0 aren't they? If they finish 12-0, there is NO reason for them to not be in a BCS bowl. NONE what-so-ever...

Speaking of lack of accuracy...Hawai'i has ZERO Division II schools on its schedule. That's two Division I FCS teams instead...huge difference.

The Michigan State cowards backed out of a return game at Hawai'i after the Warriors had already played in East Lansing. And Hawai'i's AD (firmly back in second place for worst Division I FBS AD) couldn't get any other FBS teams to fill the schedule. Hawai'i always tries to play 13 games with 8 home games, but this year it has just 12 overall and only 7 home games.

Island Boy threw a pick on the first play of the game, but it's still 6-0 Warriors with 11:39 left in the 1st.

Will you be saying that when the BCS schools start scheduling like that?? Two DII colleges in addition to the DI cupcakes?? Pathetic!

If that is the attitude you guys have, then Oakes should schedule ULM, ULL, Texas St., and Nicholls for next year and years after. Why ever schedule a BCS program??

ZERO DII colleges....and none of the schools you list are DII. Only one Division I FCS win can count toward bowl eligibility....no DII wins can count.

    Re: Hawaii and the BCS???

If you look at the athletic budgetary differences between Hawaii and the FCS schools that they played, you'll find that the difference is FAR less than that between...say, LSU and Tech.

Ok, Charleston Southern and Northern Colorado aren't DII, they've changed the name or whatever big deal. Simple fact is that those teams did not stand a chance against your mighty warriors and they are not FBS teams. You can't let Hawaii get away with scheduling like that. For all the clamoring you guys do on this board about how La.Tech should schedule (this many BCS games on the road and this many at home) why should we ever schedule BCS opponents?? Let's just schedule a bunch of teams who don't stand a chance and try to run the table in the WAC. If that can get us a 13 million dollar check then that's the most logical route to go. Hawaii does NOT deserve to get a 13 million dollar check for scheduling like they did this year and then playing piss poor defense against any team that had a pulse.

It doesn't matter anyway because they'll lose and then drop completely out of the top 25. (As they should)

    Re: Hawaii and the BCS???

undefeated is undefeated. the record that would count would be 11-0. if the BCS rankings have Hawaii in a position to fo to a BCS bowl, they'll go. It's deserving. If you hate Hawaii and every team like them, then join BCS Inc. and change the way the computers compute and make where no team outside the BCS conferences can make it to a BCS bowl, which seems what you want it to be...

Oh, and the thing I like most about Tech's scheduling is if we run the table and go undefeated, there is NO excuse for Tech not to be in the NC game since it will be wins against 2-3 BCS teams, 8 WAC teams, and 1 or 2 other OOC teams
