Third Eye Blind
Matchbox 20
Blessed Union of Souls
I have know idea what I'm talking about;
Time is your friend. Impulse is your enemy. -John Bogle
Nirvana came into form "officially" in 1988
Nevermind was released in 1991, 3 short years later Cobain was dead -
The only person in rock who had a greater influence on music history in a shorter time was probably Buddy Holly was career spanned an entire 22 months -
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
That was definitely a good thing. All those spandex and makeup wearing (Kiss doesn't count here) bands had to go. And I mean go. Thank goodness for Nirvana.
I don't have a problem with Van Halen, Rush, or bands like that. They were good and I've seen them all live.
It's the Poison's of the world I am glad were ushered out by Nirvana and Soundgarden for example.
Nirvana began in the early 90's but it didn't last through the whole entire decade. Kurt Cobain did in 94. Beastie Boys started in the 80's..but had some great hits in the 90's like Sabotage, Intergalatic, Whatcha Want, Body Moving. They had a very big presence in the 90's
Cracked Rear View Mirror and Fairweather Johnson both had multiple Top 25 hits. One had something like 5 on one album. Those were really decent albums.
Third Eye Blind had "How's It Gonna Be" and "Semi Charmed Life".
Blessed Union of Souls had Believe and Let Me Be The One. Am I missing anything?
I think there's a very good argument that Hootie and the Blowfish belong there more than those two as the better 90's band.

Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
1991 was a good year.
Updated my list for some accidental oversights.

Not sure why '7 Mary 3' is in there. Cumbersome was awesome, Water's Edge is a great song, but didn't get alot of play. Under-rated.. yes... best of the 90's?? No.
No Creed or Limp Bizkit anywhere?? My Own Prison may be one of the best CD's of the 90's... the rest were decent. Fred Durst was EVERYWHERE the late 90's and early 2000's, and I don't think that anyone was more popular than them during their time.
Dave Matthews made some amazing music in the 90's as well. He's better than all those bands in the poll COMBINED.
Can't forget PRIMUS. Can't nobody rock like them.
AG_jr,
Any poll about 90s bands that doesn't mention Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, or Stone Temple Pilots is invalid. Since you are mostly looking at the late 90s, I would say that Matchbox 20 is the best of the three bands you listed.
My favorite band in the 90s was Cowboy Mouth, but that's because I saw them live about a thousand times.
