You guys sound like dorks.
Made my daughter listen to Weezer on the way to school this morning...the blue album.
She was not impressed.
So, I tried Red Hot Chili Peppers...she said it was weird.
Finished up with Tom Petty...again, she was unimpressed.
Not sure where this kid came from.
Time is your friend. Impulse is your enemy. -John Bogle
Driving down the road several years ago listening to the radio. My son who is usually non stop chatter box gets quiet.
He says WOW that was a great song. What is the name of that song. My reply, A Day in the Life. Who is the group. I reply, The Beatles.
"I never heard of them." I say, "You know Paul McCartney." His reply "Paul McCartney is in a new band!"
True story. My Beatles albums started disappearing shortly after that.

I tried Soundgarden, Bush, R.EM., and Pearl Jam and my 10 year old was like, “turn it off.”
Tried Guns N Roses, Rush, Metallica, Incubus, and Muse and got a good reaction. All may not be lost.
Sounds like you guys are doing this wrong - try Iron Maiden, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana. If your kid knows what is up they will also like Pixies, Liz Phair, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Silver Jews.
