No. I knew about James Taylor on High Life, but I thought Whitney Houston was the other singer on Higher Love. So, I failed the test. I'm ashamed.

There is a pretty good Whitney Houston cover. So you still get partial credit.

But Sledgehammer beat Higher Love and some other notables for Best Video that year,.

Seems fair. Higher Love and With or Without You videos are fine, but not really distinct in any way. The Genesis one is certainly memorable, but not anything you'd want to watch again. Boy in the Bubble looks like a Sesame Street interstitial of the era (this isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world). Sledgehammer is weird, but not quite as disjointing as the Genesis one.

This live version is better than the stop-motion video though, homeboy was high-energy, huh?

Tommy Shaw (of Styx) visit's Daryl's House (Daryl Hall of Hall & Oats). This short video shows "Renegade" and "Too Much Time on My Hands". Not only does Tommy Shaw still have it, Daryl's band is great too. Enjoy!

Indeed. And he's got a hell of "house band", too. He makes it easy for the visiting artist to come in and acclimate. He's like, "you just do whatever you do, and we'll compensate." And they do. HAHA!

One of my favorite episodes is when Robin Zander and Rick Nelsin aka Cheap Trick visited -

Re: What are you listening to Today?

I like some of those Daryl's House videos. Been a minute since I've watched one, but I remember liking a couple of them. I'll have to go back and check some out. This afternoon was lots of Sting. I listened to a podcast on Ten Summoner's Tales while I went for a walk at lunch and that obviously had me listening to it in the background when I got back to my desk. I like Mercury Falling better, but if you're in the right mood it's not bad. Good time of year to listen to Sting if that makes sense. For some reason I mostly get an autumnal/winter vibe from his solo stuff (you know, when the mercury is falling).

I don't have the musical knowledge to fully appreciate (or always even enjoy, to be honest) all the jazzy noodling around and unusual time changes and all that stuff that his band does. But when it works, it works.

    This (obviously):

Want to say I watched some of the Darius Rucker one, too.

This was fun, sounds good fleshed out with the band:

I watched that Cheap Trick visit too, and loved it. I had no idea that Daryl Hall and the Cheap Trick guys were all so close. But they were all hanging out buddies back in the 1970's before any of them made it big. BTW, those Cheap Trick guys are still damn good too. I'm now convinced that guitar playing is one of the few things in life that you can just continue to get better at until you die.
