Did you click the "Why was this song selected?" tab? Not that those answers are usually very helpful.

    electric rock instrumentation
a subtle use of vocal harmony
    mild rhythmic syncopation
    repetitive melodic phrasing
    extensive vamping
mixed minor & major key tonality
    a vocal-centric aesthetic
    electric guitar riffs
    an electric guitar solo
    a dynamic male vocalist
    a prominent harmonica part

One time, Pandora thought I might like a song, in part, because it had offensive lyrics. Really? Is that a reason to pick a song?

There you go. Your favorite three criteria for choosing what music to listen to. I'd say they've got you pegged.

yeah, the real reason i like/dislike a song usually has little to do with their characteristics. for me, it lists "major key tonality," "minor key tonality," and "mixed major and minor key tonality" as reasons to pick songs for me. why not just leave the tonality out of it?

Actually, here is a representation of a song I actually like:

    Tool: Intension

    electronica influences
    new age influences
a subtle use of vocal harmony
    extensive vamping
a clear focus on recording studio production
    heavy syncopation
    minor key tonality
    a vocal-centric aesthetic
    prominent bass riffs
    a distinctive male lead vocal
    use of odd meter

I think if a song is in a minor key I am more likely to like it than if it were in a major key, but there are other features that I think are more heavily reflected in the songs I thumbed up.

i don't think the key affects it at all for me. of course, the key is part of the whole package, but i think a song in e minor is just as likely to stink as one in b-flat major.

chose gin blossoms "'till i hear it from you" for me based on these criteria:

a subtle use of vocal harmony
    mild rhythmic syncopation
    mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation
    major key tonality
    electric rhythm guitars
    acoustic rhythm guitars

apparently annoying melody and poor vocal pitch accuracy aren't characteristics they consider.

From what little I know about your musical tastes, it seems like the "use of odd/irregular" algorithm should be a primary selection criterion.

I found this song on an Xmass album a while back and I have liked it all year round. I 'm not sure of who the group is. It is simply listed as Ensemble.

Edit- the album is Winters Solstice on Ice by Windham Hill.

One of my favorite tunes. I couldn't find a recording version so here is a live version.
