I believe we will get things together before conference. If we beat Sam Houston and McNeese, we will go into conference with some confidence. This is still a VERY young team that has not found its stride yet. They will. That flash that Sidney showed in her first game tells me that she is one to watch out for. With a guard to replace Whitney, we will definitely be stronger. Our cold outside shooting has allowed teams to double and triple Sneed inside. With another outside threat, things will improve. Once we start winning again, things will start to click in all phases of the game.

I say IF, because we are on a losing streak. Read my post again. We need some wins under our belt. With very young players, it is important to get a win under our belts. With a young team, no win is a given. The last 4 games should tell you that. We need to get things together and get on a hot streak again. Doesn't matter who the opponent is, because it is a head game right now.
We have ONE four year senior right now - Tubb (and to be honest, she is Barmore's, because she committed before he left). For all of you praising Budke, this is due to him. His 4 year players should be seniors THIS year. Instead, we are relying on freshmen and sophs. We have NEVER had to rely on freshmen and sophmores. You rely on junior and senior leadership. Heck, even players like Ayana Walker bid her time on the bench for two years before she saw any real action.
The only good thing about all of this is that these young players will grow up fast, because they have to do that. At some point these players will catch on and I will be there. I am not saying anything about the coaching. We are in the thick of our OOC schedule and I am going to watch the maturation process and see what happens.
Champ 110, I agree that some of this is still Budke's fault, but each year less and less.

Budke won 20+ and went to the NCAAs while here. He also did something that Barmore NEVER did, he won a first round game away from the TAC!!
Okay, want to credit Barmore for Budke's success while here? Really? Then tell me how Barmore has influenced OSU's success. Okie State was not just bad, they were horrendous prior to Budke's arrival. Yeah, I know, OSU's current record of 13-1, or whatever it is, is a little deceiving given the schedule they have played. I'd say that they will do good to play .500 in Big 12 play. But, so???? Long will be lucky to play .500 in WAC play!
No, here's what has happened. A couple of you convinced yourself that all of the Techsters' problems were due to Budke. I, yes, I, posted years ago that I did share that simplistic viewpoint. I mentioned the larger budgets of other schools, that the Techsters' name did not mean doodly-squat to today's recruits, etc...but no, it was just Budke's fault. And, I said, before Long ever coached his first game and Budke ever coached his first at OSU, that it wouldn't take long to see which perspective was correct. Well, even a blind man can see it now. Budke is "okay" as a coach. Not great, but good enough by any measure. And Long sucks!
I don't totally blame Budke. Much of this is due to money being poured into other programs, but the state we are in right now is due to not having any senior leadership on this team. I never thought Budke was a horrible coach. He was average, at best. Average is not going to cut it for a program that was where we were when he took over. He went for short term success on the court and got that. He did not go for building any long-term success. My thought is that he planned to jump ship all along and that is why we only have one 4 year senior on the team right now. He will do fine at OSU, because he has the Big 12 name to work with. Any wins were an improvement there and he will get media attention just by conference affiliation. He will never be able to compete with Oklahoma, Baylor, or even Texas, though. He doesn't have the skills to do that. He will get some great OOC wins against weak teams, though. That formula works well for B12 teams - not for us.
In the long run, we will be better than that. Just watch. We are in a slump right now, but all is not gloom and doom. We need a Center in the worst way and I hope this coaching staff is trying to get one. Not just any Center, though. We need a fast and athletic one. Sneed is a great player, but if she were in the forward position and teams could concentrate on shuttting down our post, she would be CRAZY good.
Anyway, I am going to hold our hope that this team gells on the court and gets back to the winning side of things.
I still believe that IF our outside guards can start hitting like they did at the beginning of the season, it will free up Dowdell and Sneed. That will be lethal for most teams we play. Since they have done this in the past, I think it is just a matter of time until they break through and start doing it again.
I can't believe that Budke is getting blamed for all this..........AGAIN!! I still say it ain't all coaching...........with all of these great recruits and players of the year and players of the state, Tech should be more successful.
I can blame Budke for the next 10 years. Watch me.
I forgot...OSU was always a Great Womens Basketball School and Budke is just helping it along.
As far as I can remember, OSU has always sucked. Budke is turning it around and within 2 years will probably be a top 10 program. He has done it everywhere he has coached. I don't like the man....but he can coach.
Where will Chris Long and the Techsters be in 2 years? We are probably the 4th best team in LA right now until we play McNeese. LSU, ULM and ULL are clearly ahead of us!!!

Go right ahead...........but your complaints against Budke right now don't hold water and for sure won't be valid in 10 years. I guess people are just looking for someone to blame right now and Budke seems an easy target--we should really be looking in our own back yard. We in now in the present Lady Techster age........and things ain't looking so good--no matter who you blame.
