You're an ass, but you are right about the fact that there are bandwagon fans at every school. People support different schools because they like the coach or a particular player or heck, they just like the colors. I would be happy to welcome any non-Tech folks to any game and glad to see them spending their money. Yes, Hawaii was exposed last night, but the WAC did pretty good in their previous BCS match up, per ESPN, 3rd greatest game in college history. I for one do not predict Tech to be in a BCS game anytime soon. Got to go undefeated to do that and in any conference, it is almost impossible to do. Dang it would be fun though.

Now all that said, Go play on your own board. In your mind this is a pitiful excuse for a sports board, head on out to your board and let the rest of us be pitiful.

I'm guilty of doing something similar. Here's a typical exchange between me and a "Fake Fan" of LSU: (I had several conversations like this on my recent trip to BR for the Tech vs LSU football game)

HD: "So, I see you're an LSU fan. What year did you graduate from LSU?" (All the while I already know they didn't attend LSU at all.)

Fake Fan: "Umm.....oh, I didn't graduate from LSU".

HD: "Oh. Really. (Now they are squirming a bit.) That's interesting. So, did you ever go to school there?

Fake Fan: "Naaaw.....I just always liked 'em. They're the best team in the whole wide world."

HD: "Sooo...... you're really just a Pretender.......or a Fake Fan?"

Fake Fan: "Hey....that's not fair. I just always liked the Tigers. I grew up liking LSU."

HD: "Well, where did you actually graduate from?"

Fake Fan: "Oh......I graduated from Tech."

HD: "Tech? Are you kidding? Me too. Why in the world would you pull for LSU over Tech? (Then I back up a half step, scan Fake Fan's silly looking LSU attire and change the smile on my face to something much more serious and purse my lips.......as if I had just encountered a traitor.)

HD: "Don't you have some pride for where you're from? I would never sell out my school like that."

At this point the Fake Fan recoils into his or her defense mode. Deep down he feels ashamed and knows he's been exposed as a pretender. He knows that I have seen through his facade, and he spends the next 10 minutes trying to make me understand why he switched allegiances.

I like the choice of the word "traitor". I've done about the same thing several times in the past when I know the lsu clothed person graduated from TECH and has no connection with lsu. I'm sure my irritation with them is apparent as I really don't have much patience with traitors. There have been mixed results so I'm not sure that the "tough love" approach is the best way to get these traitors to begin supporting TECH. It doesn't work on all people because some just don't see anything wrong with supporting lsu and forsaking TECH. Right now my usual approach to try to get them back is to offer tickets to MBB games or baseball games.

Dang, HD, I wanted that type of confrontation Sunday at the I-Bowl as I walked down with my bright new blue Tech sweatshirt.

However, all I got were 5 or 6 "how 'bout them Dogs" and one nice lady who said "Go Dogs", but no ElEssEwe attire on a one of them. (There was one guy who was trying to get my attention, my wife said, but I was high-fiving another Tech fan.)

I didn't dog any Bama or Colorado fans on Sunday, I just walked with my Tech colors and let it be.

PS--Now, my soapboax . . . sitting there in my seats (provided by 97.7 ESPN via contest) I was surrounded by Colorado fans. A purple-and-piss-dressed idiot walks by with his alumnum bottle of Bud Light and kept saying "F--- Saban" "F--- Saban" "F--- Saban". On the fourth time, one of Shreveport's Finest grabbed him and escorted him (hopefully out of the stadium). I wished the cops had nabbed him on the first f-bomb utterance. Gladfully, the 6YO grandson was into his free yellow pom pons at the moment.

Show me a Tech fan and I'll show you a person who is dedicated, loyal, persistent, honorable, educated, and PATIENT.

Show me a LSU fan and I'll show you a person that probably was not in Tiger Stadium when Houston was whipping their ass.

The first thing that crosses my mind when I meet an LSU fan (with no affiliation to the school) is this person is a sheep. May be useful, but not likely to be dedicated to a difficult task.

When I meet a Tech fan we have war stories. "Remember when (fill in the blank) beat the crap out of us?!" We are the Marines of collegiate athletics. Sempre Canem!

lsu fans are like those toolbag rich dudes riding Harley Davidson bikes. Sure, you ride a "cool" bike and wear leather but you're no bad-ass Bandito or Hell's Angel. Give them a chance to dress up in stupid loking outfits, get drunk, make a lot of noise and act like idiots every other once in a while and leave them at that.

lsu's reputation grows as a rowdy, classless act EVERY weekend in the Fall.

lsu fans are mostly the products of mega-marketing and North La folks wanting, desperately, to be associated with South La, a.k.a Cajun, culture. Let them be....they will self destruct soon. Sanctions, scandals, ect....the NCAA will be more than happy to discipline a school with "fans" as unruly and classless as lsu fans/alum and athletes such as lsu has.

The answer to all of this nonsense, Tech grads, LSU fans, create a product that they will be proud of WHILE THEY ARE IN SCHOOL! Those that are lost are probably lost for good, or until LSU posts a 7-4 record and winds up in the Indy. Give the current students a good product on the field, and facilities they can be proud of and you will have them for life...at least most of them. That will be the first step in the right direction.

We will never win all of them back. But it all starts with the product and the facilities. On a side note, it seems I am noticing more and more Tech stuff on cars on people around Shreveport. I watch pretty closely and it seems there is more. Of course, at the same time, there is more LSU gear because of the upcoming NC game. But Tech seems to be on the rise.

AMEN!! I have been telling this to anyone at Tech who will listen. These people are gone, lets focus on the ones that are here now.

So was the pitiful Arkansas team that beat lsu. So was Kentucky that barely beat FSU without half of their team. So was Florida that lost to Mich in the crappy big ten. Oh yeah, the same Mich that also lost to Appy State and Oregon of the Pac 10.

Georgia would have beat about 4 other schools in BCS games by a score like that.

I know some of you will disagree with me here, but in my mind Hawaii was exposed when they played us and won 45-44. And if not there, then when Washington was beating them before they came back and won.

Back to the subject at hand. I work with a guy from Lafayette that went to Tech and failed out. Then he went to some little school in Arkansas. Yet all he talks about during the fall is LSU football. I figure he grew up rooting for LSU because of the others around him. I suppose it is like inbreeding. If you grow up in it and around it, you never really know it's wrong.

Like arrows off a bronze breast plate, we need to let any and all things associated with lsu deflect from us. If they win the NC so what ? Wish them well and lets get on with our life in the WAC. Our future is in the WAC, and its a darn good conference. Lets develop a passion of dislike for others in our conference. We are begining some very good rivalries with Boise, Frenso, and Hawaii, thats were our passion needs to be. Not one time in the past three years have I heard anyone from App. State mention anything about UNC, NCSU, Wake Forest, etc. But you know what ? They go out and win win win because they focus on what it takes to win their conference, to be the master of their domain. We are now in a position were we can do the same. People, WE HAVE THE BEST YOUNG HEAD COACH IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ! He will lead us to Conference domination and National prominance, I am 100% certain of this. 2 and 3 years from now just watch and see how many 3, 4, and 5 star recruits we are attracting. IT WILL HAPPEN. Forget lsu, focus on Tech and what we can do to support our school in a positive manner.
