Crazy. I didn't see this coming.
I like Coach Jackson but Dooley shouldn't have been forced to take on any asst. coaches from the previous regime when he was hired. Even good ones like Coach Jackson. A new HC should be able to pick his entire staff. If you want me to cook the dinner you at least need to let me pick out the groceries as Coach Parcells used to say.
Unbelievable. I didn't see this coming either.
I like Coach Jackson. But I have to say that when you hire a new coach you must give him the power to build his staff. It is as important to build a coaching staff as it is to have good players on the field. If this is true...good luck to Coach Jackson.
I've wondered for a while if Coach Dooley would keep Jackson and Hines. Only time will tell. I see no news of it on the Chicago Bears web site.
I thought he was retiring after the '07 season having been at Tech for the past 15 seasons. Perhaps the agreement was that he would stay through National LOI day.
i don't think a man as dedicated to Tech as ed would slack off on recruiting just because he is losing his job. the coaches that stayed on "for continuity sake" must have known that they were likely to need to be looking for a new job after the first season. this makes me wonder if hines and perot are still on.
