How can this raise questions? If born on a military base, that means one of the parents is serving the country. Geeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just gotta love the NY Times. Well, maybe not.
This is total BS and they know it.
Rooster, my old roommate, whom you know (Sean P.), was actually born in Newfoundland because his dad was a Colonel in the USAF. We used to tease him about him about being a foreign national, but he American bases in foreign nations are considered American soil. If he was born on a base, then he was born in an American hospital and is a full American citizen. His dad was an Admiral in the Navy for God's sake.
These NYT guys are idiots and their overt support of the Democrat Party is blatantly obvious.
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." Article II, Section 1, Clause 5.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural-born_citizen - describes what "natural born Citizen" means.
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
Interesting.
So if military installations are considered U.S. jurisdiction, then presumably a person born at a military installation is a natural born Citizen. But, if military installations are considered U.S. jurisdiction, then it would appear that the act of waterboarding (of non-Citizens) at those installations clearly violates several amendments to the U.S. constitution, which is certainly applicable to U.S. jurisdictions.
Warhawk Republicans -- Rock, meet hard place.
NyTimes posts something stupid about McCain "LIBERAL MEDIA!!!"
WND posts something stupid about Obama having gay sex with some guy who cant prove it "Hmm... let's see how this plays out. He *is* taking a lie detector test after all..."
Sense of proportion? Wha?
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt
My son and one of my three daughters were born in Germany. Both were born in local hospitals off-base. Any child born in Germany is considered a German citizen and is given a German birth certificate. However, they are also given a Consular Certificate of Birth by the US State Department and proof of US citizenship. I believe that my kids, who currently hold both citizenships, must claim one or the other at the age of 18.
However, if someone is born at one of the larger bases in a US hospital, then they are considered as having been born on US soil.
This question has been answered...

"set the Time Machine to March 16, 1790, the second session of the very first U.S. Congress.
The Constitution was only a year old, and Congress was busy passing laws explaining and amplifying what it various clauses and phrases actually meant.
According to the Act of March 26, 1790, 1 Stat. 103, "the children of citizens of the United States, that may be borne beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens of the United States."
So, to become a "natural born" American you don't need to be born in the continental U.S. But you do need to have two parents who are U.S. citizens. By that standard, McCain passes.
To nail things down even more tightly, Congress later stipulated that individuals born in the Republic of Panama or the Canal Zone after February 1904 were automatically U.S. citizens."
seems pretty clear cut to me...
Yeah, speaking of Obama, I thought it was funny that McCain busted his ass on the whole al-Qa'ida in Iraq issue. Obama clearly stated that he would take action in Iraq IF al-Qa'ida were there. McCain then *reminded* him that al-Qa'ida is already there -- it goes by the name al-Qa'ida in Iraq.
Obama responded, of course, that they were only there because of Bush and the invasion. The liberal crowd went wild, even though Obama never addressed his inconsistent stance on the issue...
Now, my question is: why hasn't McCain TOASTED this guy on that point? Here he's been running his mouth about pulling out of Iraq for months and months. Hell, it's the biggest single issue of his campaign. He wants all US forces out of Iraq immediately and has said as much. He "made a speech" in 2002 against the Iraq invasion. I'm not really sure how relevant that is, considering that Obama's speech against Iraq holds as much water as the Mayor of Ruston making a similar speech, but I digress...
So, here we have Obama saying that he will pull us out of Iraq if elected. Conversely, he states that he would take action in Iraq if al-Qa'ida is there -- kind of hard to justify his statement about going into Pakistan to fight a-Qa'ida without taking similar action elsewhere in the region. Well, if we KNOW that al-Qa'ida is already in Iraq and if Obama has said that he would go after them in Iraq, then how or why is he going to pull our forces out?
Obama is a foreign policy nightmare waiting to happen. He's writing checks with his mouth that he'll never be able to cash. The fact is that we have virtually ended the civil conflict between the Sunni and Shia, and we're killing or capturing al-Qa'ida in Iraq folks every day. We've essentially ended the Iranian influence on the battlefield. We've helped bring about local and nationwide elections and have enabled a new government to be formed. Yeah, let's pull out immediately, Obama. That's exactly what needs to happen...
