The Arkansas loss was a physically and emotionaly draining game on the players. Although they came out flat the nex't day vs Ohio State, they still pounded the ball hard and often with many of the hard hits right at the defense. Two of Ohio States' diving stops cost us 5 runs on the board. Give them credit for playing great defense....that's baseball...a game of inches.Pitching JJ on 3 days rest (instead of the usual 6-7 days rest for a starting pitcher) was not the best scenario for success vs A&M.Add to that a 30mph steady wind blowing out to leftcenter field (all 3 of the solo hr's were popups carried by the jetstream)All three were fastballs up in the zone. The A&M pitchers were very successfull at keeping their pitches down (many in the dirt) and left very few balls up in the zone. Adam Cobb hit two mistake pitches to his credit. The 2nd home run would not have made the warning track on a calm day.Playing 9 games in 10 days was a bit rough on the pitching staff but coach Sim is finding out who he can go to battle with.Once we get Bunting,Grunenwald,Winn & PT's bats going we will be hitting on all cylinders and we will be very hard to beat. Once Luke get's consistant with his off-speed pitches then they won't be sitting on his fastball....it's as simple as that for him. He had about 25 radar guns pointed at him @ College Station but he struggled with his off-speed stuff and paid the price. Our middle relief pitchers did well over the weekend and that's encouraging. Lorio is a 1-2 inning guy and once we get him in that role he will be huge (he came in Friday on one days rest after pitching 3 innings on wednesday vs ULM)
