Maybe. I don't know, though. I think most are accepting the fact that the ops tempo is way too high and our forces are stretched thin. Petraeus obviously wants to draw down, but feels that doing so right away would cause us to lose the gains we've made in recent months. I'm not so sure that McCain would disagree -- he just doesn't think we should commit to a full and total withdrawal as being advocated by many of the democrats.

I don't think that a president and VP with differing views is necessarily a bad thing, though. In fact, I'd prefer having a VP who could act as a voice of reason and offer a counterpoint to the president and/or his advisors.
