I considered the money spent to build the clock tower a waste before it was built. Either maintain it properly or get rid of it.
I was in school when they had the "student referendum" for the fee. I can't remember if I voted for or against it but I do remember that it was one of a number of elections where in the end they would announce that it had successfully passed yet they would never reveal the voting results.
We all have fond memories of Tech but we also all have those memories of certain things that just aren't right.
Does anyone remember when the clock tower was "fixed" to play Duelling Banjos? Reneau was standing beside it showing off his pride and joy to a group of visitors when it Played the ENTIRE song at MAXIMUM volume. He was furious. The clock mysteriously quit chiming for a while after that. A couple of guys I knew told me after they graduated they did it. It also played the Jeapordy Theme during finals week and 2001: A Space Oddessy at different times. Apparently they figured out that the "chimes" on the clock are nothing more than midi files being played by a computer. They reprogramed the computer to play the different songs.
Since you name is Reality Check, you need to get in touch with reality and realize that it is there for looks, not for time. Who actually looks at that thing for time? It looks nice on campus, no reason to get rid of it.
People might look at it for the time, if they thought it would be there. What's so wrong about wanting a clock to tell time?
I know this topic is about the clock tower time being wrong...anyone contacted the right ppl to get it fixed?
Who are the right people? The SGA was looking into it last fall, but I haven't heard anything out of them since. It might be just a matter of fixing the computer or relocating it to a cooler area other than up in the attic.
"Fix it or get rid of it"- getting rid of it is stupid. I agree it is ridiculous that it doesn't run. But comments like that is what drives me up the wall.
wasn't the clock tower and plaza part of a gift from a graduating class?
