Dawn Staley played for (and graduated from) the University of Virginia--not Temple.

Spoon was at the Liberty game this morning (it was the team's annual school day game) and sounded very excited about getting down to Ruston. She also made it quite clear in conversation that her goal is to be a head coach, and not 3 years from now either. Therefore, I agree with the above sentiment, especially if a school like South Carolina is giving out 650k for women's basketball coaches in a conference that they have very little chance of winning in the near future.

Anyway, she further demonstrated why she's such a fan favorite. Although she was sitting court side with a lady friend and Kym Hampton (fellow Liberty legend), she went up to the cheap seats with Kym to amp up the kids in the crowd (there were about 8,000 kids at the game) before the start of the 4th quarter. She joked around with the mascot and players during timeouts, signed a bunch of autographs and took the time to thank various people wishing her luck. Then on her way out well after the game ended, after being stopped numerous times to talk to some fans and team staff, she was called back to the court to participate in the team's post-game educational clinic for the kids at the last minute. Although she was clearly on her way out, she graciously accepted the offer to say a few words to the kids, who actually knew who she was as opposed to the two players the Liberty chose to speak.
