Just got back from picking my wife and mother in law up from the protection of the Shreveport Fire Dept.. I awoke from a nap to discover that my wife and mom in law decided to try and make it back from Bossier City and got caught in a flash flood. Many other motorists met the same fate. On my roundabout journey to retrieve my very soggy, but safe, wife and mom in law I saw stuff flooded in Shreveport that I thought I'd never see and I've lived here for 30 years. For those of you familiar with Shreveport I'll give you a brief synopsis: I-49 at Kings had 5-6 feet of water, the bayou (or glorified concrete ditch) that runs through Betty Virginia park- on Line Avenue- busted its banks and the entire park and houses on the North side looked like whitewater rapids with the main park having 6-8 feet of water raging through it. I went down to the end of my street (Huron) to Gilbert Drive to check on an elderly friend of mine and the SFD had already evacuated the homes along Bayou Pierre, the Gilbert and Ockley sections were completely underwater. I couldn't make it to the bridge as there was approx 6+ feet of water. The news said that Dixie Gardens is getting it bad and I assume many parts of Broadmoor are in bad shape as well. Thoughts and prayers to my people in Shreveport/Bossier as it is still raining. Anybody that needs help or needs to try to get some info please contact me and I'll do what I can. BTW: 911 is no longer working in Shreveport (overloaded). Ross
