Exactly. I know alot of folks in the room give, this presentation showed the givers have to give more. The thing Tech has to do most is get the alums who dont give anything to send in at least $10.

I doubt that we will get all 70,000 to do that but it would be nice to get to the 20K range.

I think this presentation is a MUST for the tech fan. While I might not agree with with coach says 100% of the time, dooley knows how to work a room and im glad he is leading the charge. Lead, follow, or get the hell out of our way!

Is the media allowed to attend these functions? If so, I'll bet News Star will have a reporter in attendance and continue to bring up the Juco game or the elite comment.

I wish I could go to the W Monroe event but figure that Tech would rather have the money instead of me spending it on gas on a 16 hr round trip. Besides I am onboard anyway.

I hope that the next strategy is how do we recruit the people who have not paid attention. We are getting the alumni that tune into this board or actually pay attention to the fliers. Like I said before, I think we need to have a tent at the games with Dooley's message looping and people standing by.

Also, will LTAC have maybe a volunteer committee to make it feel like it is an organization/association. If it is just a bank account, then it will be easily forgotten. I am not saying that the members of the committee have any power but they can at least give the administration recommendations and likewise the admin. can tell the committee what would help to accomplish goals.

What I am saying is that if it is a group of people that other alumni see on gameday mingling and talking this up then this organization can grow for the betterment of Tech.

Excellent event. There were some young faces there (myself and everyone at my table included). My favorite part:

(paraphrasing) "We have an aggressive plan to achieve all of this. I am very excited about it and the public should be made aware of much of it over the next several months. 2 to 3 years from now we are all going to look back as say, wow, we did that."

The opening slide is of the artwork on the wall in the Alumni House. Don't know if it is planned for the stadium banners, but they would look good. I think Donnie Bell was the artist and Rapid Signs did the production as part of the Alumni House renovation done a couple of years ago.

I was also pleased with the age demographics. I was expecting all "gray hair" like I see when attending the Monday meetings at Howard Johnsons.

But that would be like a REAL booster club...
    Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”

Various forms of "Athletic Advisory Boards" have been suggested in the past and never happened even though words were said that it would. Maybe the new assistant A.D. will want it done and it is something I am going to ask the new guy about. Would like to know what his previous places of employment did and what his thoughts are about the advisory committee / board concept.

Having a voice is so important in any relationship. Hope this can happen to support the momentum that is happening at Tech Athletics.

Today in Ruston it was Ponchatoulas. I don't know who will cater tomorrow. But it was worth every penny of the 15.00. Not just the food. The Talk.

That is what I am saying. I am not surprised that Advisory Boards have been recommended in the past but with the new outlook I hope that they are open to this. Again, I only want to see an Advisory board that has little to no power but instead can have a relationship and relate the needs as well as rally alumni in areas. I have seen too many Boards like this in government and other organizations grow to be something that was ineffective and thought that they controlled everything.

Hopefully Dooley will be here for a long time but if he is the sole voice of this effort and leaves without some of us continuing that momentum then we could fall back to what WAS the era of not knowing and not having the privilege to know.

You're right Sooner....I saw it last week in Dallas with 75 of my best Tech friends.....and I loved it!:

I would, however, change one thing:

Louisiana Tech needs a TARGET STATED GOAL. (I would suggest that reaching 10% of our alumni is reasonable.) Last week in Dallas Dooley said that he didn't want to set a "goal" because he didn't want Tech to be limited by it. I think this is a HUGE mistake. You've GOT to put your expectations in WRITING!

    My expectations:

10% (7,000) alumni donors is VERY doable. With the right organization, Tech could have 7,000 alumni giving a minimum of $1,000 per year (only $83 per month).

That's $7 MILLION dollars each year. This should be our STATED TARGET goal.
