Shelby Aulds has been getting the most press at West Monroe but Bunk Coronado was a big part of their success. I'm glad we got him. Maybe Shelby will follow suit. Shelby's dad, Buddy Aulds, and cousin, Jim Aulds, played at Tech.

Saw both Coronado and Aulds pitch this year. Aulds got a lot more press but Coronado was a better pitcher when he was on and has a lot more upside. He could be a good pitcher for us in the future.

Bunk is a great kid and a good pitcher. When he's on he's really tough to hit. My son has played ball with him the last two years at WM. I think that Tech did a great job by signing him. Best wishes to him for the next four years.

I'm guessing Sim expects him to come in and make an immediate impact? That's definitely what we need! We should not be signing any pitchers who can't contribute right away.

Yes, we need impact pitchers, but HS signes this late generally are not as freshman. Think back over 15-20-25+ years, not that many freshman pitchers ever turn out to be impact pitchers (starting rotation, or main closer) their first year. Only very few have that kind of impact as freshman.

i'm at the lhsca all-star game as we speak, and there are 6 tech signees here. on paper, this class looks very, very good. two tech signees -- acadiana's jeb stefan and mangham's alan williams -- were the two starting pitchers. dan breazeale and mark threlkeld also were in the starting lineup, while lance mayo will start saturday's game. at some point over the next two days, alex williams will get to throw a couple of innings.

I've heard that Shelby is coming to Tech with or without a scholarship offer. He's a good kid and athlete. Plus, he's a Tech legacy. It will be good for the program to have some more local kids on the team.
