So what's the deal with the board lately, seems like everybody's hit that time of the month at once. I thought with all the great things going on with Tech (athletics and academic) that the board would be "full of peace and love" (big props to Dr. Elmore!) but seems like there's more tension and snapping lately.
So what gives, why when we start having a small amount of success and the snowball starts rolling down the hill does it seem like we are doing our hardest to piss each other off???
Oh shut up.
Well, it is the off-season. Also, change is hard, even for those who've been begging for it for a long time. There is a lot of change going on in our athletic department. Guys like Dooley make a Big impression on everybody they come in contact with. He's kind of a polarizing figure. Those who like him are really excited. Those who don't are dreadfully afraid that he's going to run up a HUGE tab and leave us high and dry for greener pastures. We've got both camps on this board and I think that's one cause of tension.
I think the basketball issues make some folks feel like we are making a bad reputation for ourselves (which we very well may be doing). Some folks automatically assume that Rupp was in the right, others that he was in the wrong. Yet another cause for message board factions.
When the board is polarized (at least relatively), it's far more likely that discussions will become heated.

Where do I start? Hornets lost! Wife and kid are out of school so I'm the only one left working for the summer! DAWG DUDE makes fun of my Slave Leia's! ETC. ETC. ETC.
I think a lot of the right things are starting to happen off the field and it hasn't had a chance to translate to on the field/court wins and EVERYONE is getting a little antsy.
Gets this way every Spring. Get ready, because it lasts until around the end of July. Toward the end of July, we start seeing football coming up and everyone is much easier to get along with. Right now it is just dang boring.............
