Plasma still has the edge on big screens and quick motion.
I just bought this one y'day (the XBR4 version):

it's unreal
BTW, it's on clearance at many Bestbuy's right now.
I came to this thread hoping I could vote for "Plasna", but it is not an option. I have a Sharp Aquos LC-46D62U. http://www.sharpusa.com/products/Mod...8,1745,00.html Love it.

LCD is better but wait till the OLEDs.

I vote for an Analog Duraband from Wal-Mart.
LCDs use less power. Plasmas generally require ideal lighting conditions - they are great for rooms without windows and watching in the dark. The specifications of the plasma are better, but at some point it gets beyond what the eye can perceive.

plasma is better for action and has (generally) better contrast, but in a room with a lot of natural light, lcd is where it's at. that's the reason lcd's make such good computer monitors -- no glare. i haven't bought one yet, but if i were going to buy one today, i would get a lcd.
from what i've read, however, you can still get better picture quality (speed, contrast, brightness) from a conventional tv with a flat screen (that's what i have, but it's not hd).
I've got 2 HD LCDs. One LCD projection and on LCD flat screen. I wouldn't trade them for the world. I have no problem with fast moving images. The ambient light in my house made the plasma a no go for me. I also didn't like the glare from the plasmas along with the weight, heat, and power requirements.

The only reason I ask is because I have a 50 inch plasma, and I have plenty of natural light in my house, but I also have a newer generation Plasma and I have no issues with glare my tv, but I have the absolute best picture that I have ever seen and I have a couple of smaller wall mounted lcd tvs in the bed rooms, but I think the are far more inferior compared to my plasma.
Bring back the Cathode Ray Tube! Who needs these ultra-sharp, vivid pictures?
I'm going to link to my previous post about this:

If you are buying 42" or less, LCD is better, bigger than that, plasma.
LCD is in no way "better" than plasma in the general case for the reasons listed in my previouis post on the subject. Black levels, resistance, etc... The reasons LCDs look better in big box stores is because the ridiculously bright fluorescent lighting. Go in to the viewing room at Best Buy, and they show off the plasmas. I really boils down to preferences of the person reviewing the TV, but Bossdawg and Guisslapp are right on, plasma are "technically" better.
